James made his way through the house, turning out all of the lights and closing all of the drapes. He had left Ariel upstairs to sleep, not wanting to intrude on her space too much. After she found out that he was like her, he knew she was still freaked out and he just wanted to give her some time alone to deal with her thoughts. Slumping onto the couch, James swirled the scotch in his glass, watching as the liquid rolled over itself. His energy was finally starting to wind down, replacing his shakiness with complete exhaustion. Now that he had Ariel asleep and didn't have to worry about his father's constant questioning, he gulped the rest of his scotch and leaned his head back so he could get some decent rest. In less than five minutes, he had slipped into a serene sleep as the exhaustion consumed him.

Three years of darkness...
"Sleep well, my child", the words resonated in James's mind. A female siluette loomed and became realer and realer. With a graceful, feline gait, She walked into his dreams.
Erida waited her son on a balcony, with a glass of wine in her hand. It was a bright night, a full harvest moon shined in the sky, but it's light was not enough to distinguish the details of the ground, so the land below looked like a pitch black abyss with no end. "That girl got even more power, than I expected, but she still isn't strong enough to get rid of me forever!" She chuckled, "What can bind you more strongly than a mother's love, right?" She sipped some wine, turned around from the entrance and and looked at the stars.

James felt his eyes flicker open as a woman's voice resonated around him, consuming his mind. His vision slowly came into focus so he could take in his surroundings. The moonlight streamed through the windows and shadows stretched in all directions, giving the room an ethereal look to it. He caught sight of a woman standing out on the balcony, surrounded by shadows and darkness. "Mother?" His voice felt no louder than a whisper. Even though James had only seen portraits of his mother, her image was just as real as what was standing before him now. He pushed himself off of the couch and slowly walked out to the balcony, his fingers trembling as he tried to make sense of what was happening.

Erida turned to the voice of her son. "James", she whispered back and put the glass on the balcony railing. She made a few steps in his direction, without a sound. A single tear ran through her cheek, "My dear, you didn't forget me". She got even closer, opened her arms and hugged him so tight, that James's bones could be heard crunching. She released him and smiled, "What a fine man you have become. So tall and broad and strong – your father should be very proud of you".

James stood frozen in place as his mother made her way over to him. He couldn't believe that he was seeing her right now...this had to be a dream. The sudden pain from her embrace didn't phase him as he slipped his arms around his mother, embracing her like a lost child would. Twenty four years of living without her, he had always thought that when they'd finally meet, she'd be cross with him about how he had treated his father all of those years. James had always felt responsible for her death regardless of what others told him. "Why are you here? Where have you been all of these years?"

"Shh," Erida slowly brought her finger to his lips and smiled, "No more questions, honey, mama is so tiered" She ran a hand through his hair. "Mama lost so much time sleeping," while her fingers still were playing with his hair, she put her other hand on his cheek. "You'll help your mother to wake up, won't you?" Her beautiful blue eyes turned slightly green and started glowing. Suddenly, Erida grabbed her sons' ponytale and brought his eyes closer to hers. "I don't want to hurt you, it's not your fault", with every word spoken her voice grew louder and louder and started echoing throughout the space. "I just want to take back everything that belonged to ME!" _________
(Okay, so for now it's for you to decide if Erida sucseeded in sucking her sons' powers out or not. I would be very glad if she did! She can take just a little piece of his magic-powers back to her, I'll be alright with this! I want to bring Erida in the real world, so she can grow and suck even more magic-power xD
When Eris was alive, she was a magical creature herself, one of the main spirits who guided all living beings through time and space, Claude Frollo loved her, so Erida wanted to become human and be with him. She tried to abandon her magic powers by giving all of it to a newborn baby, but, unfortunatley, she died during the process of birth and some of her magic scattered all over the country.)

His breath caught in his throat as an odd sensation swallowed him whole. Coldness spread throughout him, his fingers becoming numb. James could feel something flowing out of him and into Erida as the glow in her eyes became stronger and stronger with each passing moment. His body was paralyzed until the transfer was complete and he fell to his knees on the floor. James remained on the floor as his body slowly came back to life and he managed to lift his gaze up to her. Confusion clouded his face at the feeling of an empty void inside of him where something used to lie. What that was, he was still unsure.

"Yes, more,..", she pulled magic powers out of James insatiably. When she felt that he was on the verge of life and death, she shouted, "No, stop!" Erida abruptly dismissed her son. And in that moment, everything in James' dream turned into complete darkness...
Erida stood right near the bed in her sons room. She walked a few steps back and forth examining her own hands. She didn't even noticed James, who had fallen out of the bed. Thankfully, he was alright and now he slowly regained his consciousness. "After all these years,.." Erida whispered, a tear fell down from her cheek. "I'm finally free..." A mirror was hanging on the wall opposite the bed. Erida looked upon it with a vengeful look. "You'll pay for this, all of you!" Her eyes turned slightly green again, her hair started floating in the air. She grinned an evil smile. Revenge. That was the only thought she had in her mind. She wanted vengeance.

His world went dark in one swift moment, his conscious only being awakened at the sharp thud of hitting the floor. As his world slowly came back into focus, James pushed himself up off the floor and ran his hand over his eyes. The memory of his dream became a fog and the image of his mother faded from his thoughts. The sound of a woman's voice behind him cause him to spin around and draw the knife from his pocket. His muscles tensed at the sight of her; his mother, alive and breathing once again. "You can't be real...you're dead." His voice felt small and child-like as his grip loosened on the hilt of the knife.

"Not anymore," Erida replied and smiled predatory. With a quick move, she stretched out her hand and pulled the dagger out of her sons hands without even touching it. The knife kept levitating in the air for a few seconds, while she admired her reflection in it's surface. Erida sigh and roughly threw it into the far corner of the room. The knife loudly clanged down on the floor. "Mama doesn't allow you to play with knives, don't you know," she giggled and smiled again, "you might get hurt yourself!" She came closer to him, in her eyes flashed a spark of humanity. Erida suddenly grabbed James in a hug and whispered in his ear, "Thank you". She kissed him on his cheek slightly and released from her arms. "Now, tell me, where is your father? I want to... talk seriously with him," she smiled, her eyes glowed slightly green, because it was hard for her to hide her true intentions. She was hungry. She needed to be fed. It didn't matter for her if it was magic powers or someone's soul. She restrained herself from last forces. Erida was ready to turn into a monster, devouring everything in its path...

Before he could react, his knife was flung out of his hands and landed with what felt like a deafening sound, across the room. His sensed still felt distorted as his body came back to reality and he realized that he had done. Something inside of him allowed her to be back and now, he knew she'd have plans. This wasn't the mother that his father led him to idolize. This was someone completely different. At the mention of his father, James raised his gaze to hers, catching the glimpse of green that showed her true intentions. James felt a tug at his heart as he thought over the consequences of her finding him. All of these years, he had despised his father and ever since the attack, his hate kept growing stronger and stronger. Maybe he deserved to be found... "The church...if he's not there, then try the castle."

"Good boy," she grinned evily. Erida slightly pushed her son back, but not enough to knock him down, or to kill him. James safely landed on the bed's mattress. Erida slowly walked to the window. She turned around and blowed a kiss towards her sons direction. A moment later she vanished, like smoke into the night. She couldn't wait more. She stopped to control herself. Magic. She wanted it all.
