Eric made his way down to the dungeons, he had been able to bribe the guards to look the other way for awhile at least. He still couldn't believe that his friend had somehow managed to get himself in this mess. Of course it seemed like his friend's father was the one to blame, which made things more interesting. As he entered the dungeons, his eyes swept the dimly lit area. Thanks to his own special abilities, Eric could easily see in the dark. "Love the new place you're staying at, how long have you been in here anyway?" Eric asked as he strode towards where James was. James didn't look so good, and that made Eric's expression darken as he took in the state of him.

James had been sitting in a ball on the floor all night, doing his best to fight off his transformation. He was constantly breaking into cold sweats throughout the day and all it did was exhaust him. At the sound of footsteps coming down the hall, his muscles tensed, worried that it was his father once again.
"Love the new place you're staying at..."
That was a voice he recognized and his gaze flew up to see Eric walking towards the cell. "Oh shut up, it could be worse." James ran his hand through his hair, trying to make himself look more presentable. He had spent so much time alone in here that he didn't even bother with fixing his hair in the mornings. "I've lost track...a week I think, maybe more." He winced as he tried to straighten his position and stretched out his legs. "What are you doing here? Those guards are still in one piece aren't they?" He flashed his friend an amused gaze, doing his best to keep his mind off his current predicament.

Eric nodded slowly, "It could be, but you look like shit." He said eventually. It was true, his friend looked like he'd been through some tough times. "As for your lovely watchdogs, I'm starting to think about ripping some throats out." He admitted with a feral smile. Eric's eyebrows went up as his friend tried fixing his hair, "No need to look handsome on my account." He assured James with a little wink. The truth was, James looked good to Eric without even having to try. He sighed and handed James a pack through the bars, "Here this should help." He said in a gentle tone. Inside the pack was a brush, a change of clothes, a loaf of bread nicely wrapped, and a flask filled with water. "Next time I come back, I'll get you out of here. I wasn't sure what the layout would be like, so I decided to check the place out and see how you were holding up." Eric continued in an undertone.

James rolled his eyes at Eric and smirked. It had been a while since he had seen him and James was thankful for the little bit of humor he always brought with him. "They aren't the problem, I'm treated well enough in here. It's my damn nerves." When Eric held a pack through the bars, he forced himself into a standing position and slowly made his way to the bars. "Thanks, I owe you one. Though I'm not so sure you want to get me out of here just yet. I'll be likely to tear my father to shreds." His words came out in distaste as he took a drink from the flask, the cold water sliding down his throat. Every moment he thought of Ariel and what Claude had been putting her through and it drove him crazy. Maybe that's what was pushing his transformation forwards but as long as he was trapped in this dungeon, he would hold it off. If any of the guards found out what he was, what he was going to become, they would kill him on the spot despite who he was. He sighed and slipped the flask back into the pack before setting in onto the ground.

Eric frowned, "How long have you been restraining the transformation?" He asked quietly as he saw how difficult it was for James to stand up. James really did look sick and unsteady on his feet. His eyes narrowed at James's other words, "What's he done this time?" He all but growled as he studied James. If Frollo had been the one to do this to James, then Eric would pay him a little visit himself. That man had hurt too many like Eric and James, and he'd probably hurt more if he could get away with it. How James was his son, was beyond Eric's understanding as the two were polar opposites of each other.

James frowned and looked at the ground. "A month..." He wasn't even sure how he had managed to hold it off so long. Every bit of research he had done had a strict 2 month process but yet here he was. It was becoming more painful by the day but he had to think of Ariel first. If he died, there would be no one to protect her from her masters, from his father. At Eric's question of what his father had done, he felt every muscle in his body stiffen and he took hold of one of the bars, gripping it to hold himself steady. "He's tearing my life apart...he...he's been.." His voice broke off as a sharp pain went through his spine and he grit his teeth. If he kept getting angry every time he talked about it, he'd kill himself. Once he regained his composure, James looked up at Eric, his eyes filled with pain. "He's been raping my fiancee." His grip on the bars tightened until his knuckles were white. He finally gave up trying to stand and sat down on the ground next to the bars so he could still be near his friend.

Eric's expression became more dark as James kept talking. "Your fiancee? Wait when did you get engaged?" He asked quietly, as he moved to sit next to James. It hurt to hear that his friend had finally met someone. Deep down though, Eric knew it had only been a matter of time before James had met someone who he would fall in love with. Although Eric had hoped that maybe James would see that he cared...loved him. He shook off those thoughts, what James had just told him was more important after all. "I always knew that creep would do something like this." He muttered under his breath. Frollo needed to be put down and even if James was engaged, Eric owed him. "So what can I do? You want me to tear out Frollo's heart? I'm guessing I'm not the only one who wants a piece of him though right?" He asked with a miserable attempt at a grin.

James gave a half hearted chuckle and looked over at his friend. "The Blood Moon Festival...at the ball." He looked down at his hands before shoving them into his pockets. Eric had been by his side for as long as he could remember and deep down, he knew that Eric had feelings for him but he never let him know that. It killed him that he couldn't return his feelings to him but Ariel had captured his heart even though they had only met months ago. At his friend's offer, he shrugged and offered him a light smile. "Nothing. If you go anywhere near him, he'll kill her, I know that much. As soon as I'm out of here though, he'll regret his actions...She has a brother but he doesn't even know she's alive..at least I don't think he does." James frowned at the thought. She hardly every mentioned her family now that he thought of it. The only one she had talked about was her brother but the last time he came up, she was still hiding from him.

Eric raised an eyebrow, "Really? I heard there was some crazy stuff going on around that time." He said, he had stayed away for his own reasons. He didn't do well in crowded areas, as James very well knew. "Well congratulations, I'm sorry to hear about what's happening to her though." He was being honest as he said this. Rape was something that he himself was very familiar with and knew had a lasting impact. "I don't mean to sound even more awesome but uh I do have ways of going around undetected." Eric pointed out with a small smile.

James shrugged. "That's why I'm here actually. Apparently my mother had visited me in a dream and taken some of my power to come back to life...I'm the reason the king is dead.." He still couldn't believe it. She had been as real as she was the day he was born yet he just pushed off the night as a dream. There couldn't have been a away for her to be real but she had tried to kill Claude and even got the king killed. It really was his fault. He groaned in frustration and leaned back against the wall. At Eric's comment, he couldn't help but chuckle and glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. "That does make you a little more awesome." He smirked and lightly knocked him with his elbow through the bars. "But I couldn't live with myself if you got hurt because of my actions. I'll fix all of this."

Eric's eyes widened, "No shit, well I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised. Considering what kinds of things are around us and what we are." He added as an after thought. It did make him wonder just what other kinds of supernatural and fantasy creatures were still around. "Don't say the king's death was your fault, were you even in the ballroom when he was killed?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "As for me getting hurt, James I have been around a lot longer and I can handle myself just fine. Although I do appreciate the concern." He said with a shadow of a smile. Even if James didn't return his feelings, Eric would at least take what he could get. "Besides I owe you...and I think paying dear old Frollo a visit could be fun." He continued with a wide smile.

James shook his head. "No, I was at home with Ariel...I didn't hear about it until the next morning when my father stormed my house." He frowned and reached his arm through the bars and gently rested his hand on Eric's knee. It really was comforting having his friend here. "If you do go, just be careful. I don't want him hurting anyone else, not even you." James was grateful to have Eric in his life and at his side whenever he needed him.

"So then how could it possibly be your fault?" Eric asked sounding exasperated at James and his caring heart. His eyes landed on Eric's hand as it landed on his knee, even though it was meant as a reassuring gesture it made Eric's heart slam against his chest. He swallowed hard and looked at James, "If I didn't know any better, I might just think you had some feelings for me." He said in a low husky tone of voice. Not quite able to hide the full extent of just what he felt for James. He knew he had probably said too much at that moment but with James he had never been fully able to hide what he felt. There were moments, just like this for instance where James said or did something that made Eric slightly more hopeful.

James eyed Eric at his words and he felt his cheeks heat slightly. He knew that Eric tried to hide his feeling around him but whenever he said things like that, he felt a weird sensation in his chest. He knew he loved Ariel but he still had a soft spot for Eric. His hand lingered a moment longer before he pulled it back into his own lap and lowered his gaze. "I have at times..but I'm in love with someone else Eric. I hate to give you false hope like this from time to time."

Eric watched with some surprise as James's face heated up. So he was right, James did have some feelings for him. His heart deflated at James's next words though and he glanced down, "I see, well at least you can't deny you like what you see." He said with a quick smile. It was hard though to pretend like James's words didn't affect him, when in fact it felt like his world had collapsed. "Don't apologize James, I can't blame you for falling in love with someone else." He said gently and moved one hand to take James's own. "She must be very lovely to have gotten your attention." He added with a sad smile. It hurt to think that James loved someone else but Eric wasn't going to try and change his mind. That would make him a lesser man, no it would be better to at least be there for James in any capacity that was needed.
