Naveen paced around Chel, her body positioned in the center circle he had drawn in the dirt around the cave. Outside of the smaller circle where she stood were larger ones spread out across the ground. Each one marked a boundary, confining her movements in small areas to keep them quick and precise. A thin silver blade was grasped in her hand as he circled her, his own sword in his grasp behind his back. Before she could learn her abilities as a dragon, he had to make sure she was capable of handling her self without relying on that power. "Go." At his words, Chel balanced her steps and launched her sword forward. Naveen narrowed his gaze, merely flicking his sword up slightly as he walked and knocked Chel's out of her hand as if it was nothing. "Tighten your grip. Pick it up and go again." He waited for her to get ready again, stopping his steps before her again. They had been doing this for hours and he could tell Chel was getting bored but she needed the discipline. When he first started, the man who taught him how to fight had used the same methods, only much harsher. If he ever dropped his sword, he'd be whipped until he got it right. Though Chel didn't need that much intensity, she was only just learning anyway. He lifted the glass of whiskey in his hand and took a drink before motioning for Chel to go again. Not to his surprise, she missed again though he only dodged, not bothering to knock the sword out of her hand. "You crossed the boundary. Now you're dead." He lifted his sword and poised it before her chest, leading her back into the small circle he had confined her in.

Chel made a face, they had been doing this for hours and her arm was getting sore just from holding the sword. "Um why aren't you teaching me how to become better as a dragon?" She asked as she reluctantly stepped back in her circle. "I mean no offense, but what will this teach me in the long run?" She asked as she tightened her grip on the sword like Naveen had instructed her too. Her dad was a no nonsense kind of guy when it came to training. It was more then a little exhausting having to keep up with him. For a guy who was a lot older then her, he sure knew how to keep her off balance. She supposed it was partly due to his experience, and partly because he stayed in shape. Chel considered herself to be a fit woman, but all of the rigorous training exercises were teaching her differently. "Don't you get ever get tired?" She asked after a moment as she looked up at him.

Naveen frowned at her words before he returned to his position before her. "Just because you're a dragon doesn't mean you can always rely on it. Before you can master those abilities, you need to be able to handle yourself as a human first. Because you didn't know how to do that before, you got kidnapped. This is so that does not happen again." He knew it was a low blow to bring up how she had gotten into that situation but he was just emphasizing his point. If she had known how to fight and handle herself before, Eddie might not have had a chance to get his hands on her and he wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen again. Though at her comment, he merely held out his sword in it's ready stance. "If you want a break, knock this out of my hand." He kept his gaze trained on her and nodded for her to go whenever she was ready. Even if she didn't succeed, he'd give her a break anyway. He knew how frustrating it was to not move as fast as she wanted, he just wanted to make sure she was paying attention. Besides, they'd been at this for hours and it'd already been a month or so since he started training her. She was ready for the harder things, he just wanted to make sure.

Chel bit down on her bottom lip at his words, she knew he was right but it still stung to hear. As he readied his sword, she moved to match his pose with her sword up. She took a breath and tried to recall everything that he had taught her. It was a little difficult when her arm was still sore, but she forced herself past that pain. Moving fast, she raised her sword up and knocked the sword out of Naveen's hand with the technique he had been trying to teach her. She blinked, mostly in surprise that the move had actually worked and that she had pulled it off. "I did it!" She said with wide eyes as she stared down at the sword in her hand. Maybe there was something to all of that training her dad kept trying to ingrain in her. "I didn't think I could do it!" She added as she lowered her sword.

Naveen blinked as his sword flew out of his hand, landing a few feet away from him. A grin tugged at his lips as he took another drink from his glass. He hadn't expected her to be able to do it but she was a fast learner. "And now you may have your break. I'm sure you're bored of swords so how about this. Anything you want to learn will be our next lesson. Dragon or human, you've earned it." Naveen made his way over to the table and poured her a drink, handing it to her as she walked over to join him. He sat down in his chair and propped his feet up on the table, swirling the liquid around the glass in his hand. If he could get Chel trained fast enough, he may be able to make a surprise appearance before they officially go back to Paradise for Nita's birthday. He hadn't seen her since they all split up after Eddie was taken care of and he hadn't slept with her since he left the first time. Whenever they finally go home, he'd make sure to get some much needed attention from her, that was for sure. He needed it and he was sure she did too. The woman confused the hell out of him but damn she was worth it.

Chel took the offered drink with a small smile, "Really? Well in that case, I'd like to learn more about the dragon side. I feel like that is my weakest point." She admitted with a small frown. She moved to sit next to him and silently noted that he seemed to be lost in thought. "So how did you learn how to control your weredragon side? I mean, did you have some special instructor? Or did you just teach yourself?" She asked after she had taken a sip of whiskey and almost started choking, not exactly used to the taste and the burn. "How do you drink this without gagging?" She asked once she had gotten her breath back into her lungs. Her eyes felt a little watery and she rubbed her eyes as she tried to clear them.

Naveen almost didn't register her question as he stared at his glass, only looking up after a few moments momentarily confused. "Hmm? Oh, right. I taught myself. It wasn't too hard though, I've been around dragons my whole life. Everyone in my village was a hunter. My father, my mother, Nita, everyone had taken a dragon's life at some point though as to how many was up to them. It was a right of passage back then.." He frowned at realizing how much times had changed since then. A hundred years was a long time for cultural changes. "Plus I had dated Rose...sorry, Aurora, for some time before I found out that she was a dragon herself so I knew some of the quirks that showed through the human form a bit. Throw yourself in a cave for a century and you'll figure things out." He smirked before taking another drink. When she choked on hers, he couldn't help but chuckle and reach across the table, grabbing the pitcher of water. "Here, I forget you're not old enough for this stuff yet." Once she recovered from the drink, he eyed her out of the corner of his eye. She did look a lot like Evangeline now that he took the chance to look at her. "So tell me...how come you became a dragon hunter? I never though Evangeline would have let you do something so reckless at your age."

Chel made a face as he handed over the water, "Oh I see." She said quietly as she stared down at her glass. "I uh...well mom she uh she didn't want me to do anything too violent. About two years ago, I woke up to find my mother dead from what was obviously a dragon attack. What I didn't realize at the time and what I'm still trying to adjust too was that my mother had been giving me potions. She used to tell me that I needed them so I wouldn't get sick, naturally I believed her...until that month I forgot to take the potion. When I woke up that morning, I was covered in blood...I sleep walk sometimes and I thought then that that was the reason why. When Eddie kidnapped me, I discovered that there was a potion that could suppress my ability to change...the exact same one that my mother made me take. I used to think my mother had been killed by a rogue dragon but now...now I think I'm the one that killed her. After I found her, I swore to kill as many dragons as I could. I was so stupid! I never realized what was going on until that night when I attacked you. I could have killed you....I almost killed you." Chel's hand shook so bad, she set the glass down on the table.

Naveen frowned at her words and his grip tightened around the glass in his hands. He never realized how bad it had been for her. If he had known she even existed, he would have helped her right away. What bothered him is that Evangelin never told him and ran away from him. He still couldn't understand why...She must have found out somehow that he wasn't what he said he was, considering that she knew how to suppress Chel's powers and that she even needed to. Yet she didn't try to kill the child...He sighed and noticed how badly she was shaking before reaching over and placing one hand on hers. Naveen set his glass down and leaned forward, using his other hand to turn her face towards his. "Hey, that wasn't your fault. None of it was. Not your mother or me. Remember what I told you? I'm indestructible." He tried to tease her lightly before he pulled back and lifted his shirt off his body to reveal his scars. "Each one of these proves it. This one here, that's from Aurora. And these three, those are from Eric." His fingers pointed out the circular scar where Aurora had stabbed to his heart and then the three lashes that stretched from his shoulder to his hip from Eric. Both of those scars had been a death, if not near death for him and yet here he still was. There were plenty more that littered his body to prove his point to her, even some left from himself when he had been so desperate for freedom back then. "You know, you're a lot like me when I was your age. After Aurora's sister attacked my village, I took revenge too. Took out her family just like they had taken mine. But you have to be careful with revenge Chel...that's how I ended up like this and now I've passed on my curse to you..." Naveen frowned at the fact and pulled his shirt back on before he finished off his glass and leaned back in his chair.

Chel studied the scars with a frown, the ones she had given him were gone and she felt relieved for that. If she had seen those scars again, she might not have been able to handle it. "You've survived a lot...I guess it's something that runs in the family huh? Revenge...I'm not cut for that kind of lifestyle. I never really was, I just was angry with everyone." She said quietly as she leaned back in her chair. "I've seen the way Aunt Nita gets sometimes...like she's afraid of something...or someone. What happened to her?" She asked quietly as she looked up at Naveen hesitantly, not even entirely sure why she was asking. "She's not like us right? I mean like a weredragon is she?" She asked curiously. Her thoughts went back to the day that Nita had seen her before Naveen and Aurora had been kidnapped. She had been so kind then, almost as if she knew on some level of what Chel was worried would happen to her. "I won't let anything happen to you." She had said before she had hugged Chel. Eddie had interrupted the moment with threats of course, but Nita had been telling the truth anytime Eddie even so much as looked in her direction Nita had stepped in. Eddie the creep that he was had tried to make passes at Nita, but every time that he had she would rebuke him. Chel glanced up at Naveen with a small smile, "She's kind of a badass, you should have seen her when Eddie got to her. She had a sword on him and everything, if it hadn't been for Eddie's henchmen she probably would have taken him down." She added.

Naveen looked up at her question and his lips pressed together. After a moment of sitting in silence, he ran a hand through his hair and shook his head. "No, she's not like us. Nita..she was kidnapped when we were younger. From what she told me, it was on the night the village was attacked. A sorcerer found out what she was and took her and she was forced to do anything he wanted. And I seriously mean, anything." His face showed clear distaste as he thought about what Nita had to go through and all that he had learned about her past, especially with Kent and that sorcerer. He shook his head as he realized that he was still in the middle of his conversation with Chel and cleared his throat. "I found her about nine months ago. I thought she had been dead all this time...That's why I barely let her out of my sight. Brotherly instincts I guess you could say. The whole reason Eddie showed up is because we had a little spat and...well that can be a story for another time." Naveen knew it was more than his brotherly instincts that made his extra protective over Nita, but he wasn't ready to admit it just yet. He'd had such crap luck with relationships so that's why he had been bouncing between Eric and the occasional woman before Nita showed up again. When Chel mentioned how Nita had stood up to Eddie, he couldn't help but smile. "That sounds like her alright. She's feisty and let me warn you, never piss her off. She'll make you pay for it." He never realized that Nita knew how to use a sword but he knew she could hold her own when she needed to. Maybe he'd have to test her out...see if she's still good with surprises.

Chel frowned as Naveen spoke about Nita, it was clear he really didn't like what had happened to her. "Well I think my respect for her just went up." She said after a moment. She couldn't even imagine what Nita had even gone through, being kidnapped by Eddie had been bad enough. "I'm glad you found her and I'll definitely keep all that information in mind. So what did you have in mind for me to learn next?" Chel asked as she looked over at him. She wanted to learn more about controlling her dragon side, even though she still had troubles with how bloodthirsty she became when she shifted. "How do you manage not to want to attack everything when you first shift? I mean did you ever have that problem? Or is it just me?" She asked as she glanced down at her hands.

He glanced over at her question and bit his lip as he thought, thankful that she was changing the subject. When it came to Nita, he had a tendency to get sucked up into his thoughts. Though at her comment, he frowned. "I did. No one had warned me about that first bit and I admit, I took a few lives. But the only way to get past it is to keep pushing forward. The more you transform, the more control you'll have and with more control comes more stability. Come on, let's go outside. We'll start with getting used to your form first." Naveen gave her a soft smile before pushing himself out of his seat and slung his arm around her shoulder as he led her outside. He took her into the valley behind his cave, grinning at the sight. It had been his favorite place to practice and it clearly showed as the walls had damaged places where the rocks crumbled to the valley's floor. When he first started getting used to his form, he had spent many weeks learning to fly and somehow managed to fly straight into the walls several more times than he'd like to admit. After a moment, Naveen motioned for Nita to shift before he transformed himself. His black scales reflected the sunlight around them and small traces of gold glinted across his neck and underbelly. With his form next to Chel's it was clear that the two dragons were related even though she held much more gold to her scales than he did. He kept a close eye on her once she transformed, just in case she lost control again. "How's it feeling so far?"

Chel glanced over at Naveen as they walked, it made her wonder what kinds of things he had gone through. Although it was clear that he had far more control then she did. Once they reached the area and he gestured for her to shift, she nodded. Shifting was still difficult for her to master on a whim, since she still wasn't used to her dragon form. It was just as painful as all the other times, and Chel kept her head lowered after she had shifted. She was almost too afraid that she might accidentally attack her dad. "Fine." She bit out, her tail lashed in agitation as she struggled to keep her anger in check. Curls of flame lit the edges of her mouth, a sure sign that she was losing her control. "Dad....what do I do?" She asked, her claws digging into the ground to keep herself from lashing out.

Naveen felt his muscles tense when Chel's tail lashed around in agitation. He had thought she had a little more control than that but he could make it work. "It's okay. Just take a deep breath and focus on my voice. See those trees over there? Let your flames wash over them. Don't worry if you miss, dragon fire doesn't harm other dragons anyway." Naveen shifted around, his form circling behind her until he came around on her other side. He stayed close in case she lost complete control so he would be able to hold her down until she came to her senses but he trusted her enough. "If it gets to be too much, don't be afraid to change back. It's a hard first lesson so I won't blame you."
