Nero's eyes narrowed at her words and he moved until he was standing right before her. "Monsters? Is that what I am to you? If you believe that then you wouldn't be trying to reason with me. Do you think our village was born on reasoning? No, it was born on taking what was rightfully yours and making sure it stayed that way. That is how every single leader had been raised, how I tried to raise both of you. Our people are not monsters, we are the elite. You two were the first children ever to rebel and look where it got you." He growled and his hand gripped her wrist to keep her from slapping or running from him. "And don't you dare threaten me with love. You never loved me and you never will, I know that very well. All I needed you for was an heir and that time is coming up fast. If you wish to remain useful, then prove your worth to me and I might consider saving you from Ruby. Otherwise, say goodbye to everything sweetheart."

Nita stared up at him, her whole body shook as he kept talking. She knew very well that he would have no qualms about letting Ruby take her, if she proved to be worthless. She used her free hand to run up his chest and before she could change her mind she leaned forward and kissed him. On the one hand, she knew she was playing with fire but what choice did she honestly have? So long as Nero believed she didn't have feelings for him, she could very well be handed over to Ruby without her consent. He had all but threatened that after all, she deepened the kiss before she pulled back just slightly. "I did have feelings for you...and that is not a lie." She said quietly. It was slightly true, during Rothbart's stay in her mind she had begun to have feelings for Nero. "You don't have to believe me...but that is the truth." She continued as she raised her gaze to meet his eyes. "You once said that you loved me...did you mean it?" She asked softly. Her body shook just a little, the only thing keeping her upright was Nero's hand on her wrist.

Nero blinked when her hand ran up his chest and she was suddenly kissing him. Her taste exploded in his mouth and he found himself backing down just slightly. His hand moved up her arm from her wrist until it was on her upper arm and then it suddenly tightened again when she pulled back. At her question, his gaze darkened and he took a step back from her. "You have one year to prove it to me. If I'm not satisfied then, that will be your answer." Nero released his hold on her arm and pushed past her, retreating back into his study. On the way, he snapped his fingers and his hounds appeared from their rooms and followed after him, shooting angered looks over their shoulders at Nita. "And don't get any ideas on running away. You can't leave this house without my consent and i I find out that you've tried, I'll call Ruby early." He threatened over his shoulder before he closed the door, leaving her alone in the main room of the house.
