Kayley made her way through the streets of the town, trying her best to keep out of sight of anyone that would be out at this late hour. She hugged her arms to her chest as she walked, trying to regain some of the warmth from her body. Every few seconds, she stole a glance over her shoulder to make sure she wasn't being followed. The whole night seemed to be a blur, escaping from the house and now the woods. She had no idea what happened to the strange girl that had decided to help her. Hopefully she was alright.... Her body felt like lead as her feet dragged across the stone of the streets, her mind not even realizing it as she tripped on a loose pebble and slammed her side into the front door of a strange house she had never seen before. A grimace fell across her face as she slid down onto her knees, practically all of her strength leaving her body as she sat in the dark on a strangers porch.

Jasmine had been at her house, she had just gotten back from her meeting with Dimitri and she felt very drained. She looked up as she heard a thud against her front door and curiously moved to see what could have caused it. As she opened the door, she stared in shock at the young woman sitting on her front porch but it was clear that she was exhausted. "Oh my goodness! Are you all right?" Jasmine asked as she hurried to the young woman's side, checking her for injuries and freezing when she saw the bruising around the young woman's neck. "Who did this to you?" She asked quietly as she studied the young woman with growing concern.

Kayley barely even acknowledged the woman as she brought her inside. As the woman checked over her, she frowned and slowly pulled her collar up to hide the bruises. "It's nothing..I'm so sorry I bothered you, I didn't mean to." Her voice felt small as she tried to stand up but immediately fell back into the chair, her hand clutching onto the woman's arms as she did. She couldn't even remember the last time she had sat still for so long and her legs felt like jelly. Sitting here in this stranger's home made her feel so foolish. Being a burden was something she never enjoyed.

Jasmine frowned even more so as she saw how the young woman hid the bruises as she led her back inside her house. "That is not nothing, I'll get something to help speed the healing." She said gently as she made sure the young woman was seated before she moved to get some ointment that helped with minor injuries. "Here." She said quietly and moved to smooth the ointment over the sores on the young woman's neck. "What happened to you?" Jasmine asked as she raised her gaze to study the young woman with a frown.

Kayley felt herself flinch slightly when the woman reached out to spread some ointment onto her neck. She mumbled an apology and lifted her chin a little to make it easier. "I ran away...I really shouldn't have, but I did and he found me. I'm still not even sure how I made it here." Kayley stared down at her hands before glancing out the window into the darkness. When the woman finished, she gave her a soft smile. "Thank you..."

Jasmine's jaw tightened at the mention of a man doing this to the poor young woman, "Well don't worry I'll make sure nothing happens to you while you're here. Is there anything I can get you? Food? Water?" She added with soft concern, at Kayley's quiet thanks Jasmine smiled back at her. "You're welcome, it's the least I can do." And she meant it, it pained her to see that there were still some ugly parts of the city that hadn't been taken care of just yet. Especially now that she was seeing what was happening right on her very doorstep, it was disconcerting and it made Jasmine wonder what else was out there.

"Water is fine for now...thank you." Kayley stretched out her legs in front of her, taking in how dirty her clothes were. Her fingertips moved over the small rips in her leggings from running through the forest. "My name is Kayley by the way..." She looked up at the woman, wondering if she had ever run into her before on her errands to the castle. Those days seemed so far away even though her old life was only a week or so behind her.

Jasmine nodded slowly before she got up and moved to get some water from the pump. She filled up a glass and moved back to Kayley, "Here, and my name is Jasmine." She said gently and took in the state of Kayley's clothes. "Oh that won't do, I'll give you some of mine." She said and nodded as if her mind was being made up. Getting clothes for Kayley was a small sacrifice and Jasmine was sure she had something in her vast closet that would fit. She pulled out a dark cloak and a simple blue dress that were both still in good shape. She shook them out and moved back into the kitchen where Kayley still sat. "I hope you don't mind." She said and held out the clothes. "At least with these you shouldn't attract too much attention." Jasmine added gently.

Kayley gently took the glass from Jasmine and took a sip, enjoying the feeling of it's cold smoothness moving down her throat. She didn't even notice when the woman remarked about her clothing and left to get something else. When the woman came back with a blue dress and a cloak, she nearly chocked on her water in surprise. "Oh no, no, I couldn't. You've already done so much for me." Even though the dress was simple, Kayley had never had anything so beautiful. Since she worked on the farm so much, she had spend her whole life dressed in leggings and a tunic to make everything easier.

Jasmine raised an eyebrow, "Well they're yours now. I'm not taking them back so you may as well keep them." She said as she sat across from Kayley. Her expression softened, "They're just clothes Kayley, they were taking up space in my closet anyway." She added with a little wink. "Now are you hungry? I've got bread and cheese if you want it." She added with a small smile.

Kayley set down her glass of water and gently took the dress from the woman. She ran her fingers over the material and couldn't help the little smile that came to her face. "That sounds wonderful, thank you." Maybe with these new clothes, she'd be able to hide from Joseph for a little bit longer. She knew eventually that she'd have to return back to him whether or not she wanted to, but who says she can't have a little fun first? Being cooped up in that house was never her idea of fun.

Jasmine smiled down at her fondly and moved to get the bread from her cupboard, it was a fresh loaf and the cheese she cut from a cheese wheel. She made sure to put generous helpings of everything on one plate and carried it back over to the kitchen. "I know it's not much." She added with a little frown as she everything down, "I can always give you more items for when you're ready to leave." Jasmine said almost as an afterthought.

Kayley graciously took the plate from Jasmine and nodded her thanks. "That won't be necessary. You've already done so much for me tonight, I can't thank you enough." She could already feel her strength coming back in full force and she felt wonderful. Taking a bite every now and then, she glanced out the window into the night. "I'll be out of your way soon. If I stay in one place too long, he'll catch up to me. If I get back to the house before him, maybe he won't be so cross with me.." She said the last line without even thinking, her mind occupied with enjoying her tiny slice of freedom.

Jasmine frowned at the mention of the man Kayley spoke of, "Who is this guy? Maybe I can help." She stated quietly. The thought that someone had hurt Kayley bothered her more then she would ever admit. There was a knock at the door and Jasmine frowned, it was too late for a visitor. "Stay here." She said quietly. She stood up and made her way to the front door. Her hand tensed on the door knob, before she opened the door. There standing opposite of her was a man who seemed to fill the entire doorframe. "Can I help you?" Jasmine asked nervously, the man didn't seem very friendly in fact he gave her a bad vibe. "Oh I'm sure you can." The man said with a fierce grin and before she could react, he had pushed past her and entered her home. He had yet to see the kitchen and Jasmine moved to stand in front of him. "How dare you? This is my home and-" Whatever she was about to say was lost as he picked her up around her throat and squeezed. Jasmine didn't even have time to really react, her hands scrabbled at his but he was far too strong for her. She panicked and her eyes started turning a dark red, the man laughed a dark sound that grated on Jasmine's nerves. "You're one of them, well tonight is my lucky night." He growled as he squeezed even tighter. Jasmine could feel her vision start to dim at the edges, yet she was too afraid of using her powers on this man. Lust and anger were never a good combination and this man had that in spades, she could sense it. "Oh Kayley...I know you're here." Joseph called as he looked around for her.

Kayley didn't even have time to answer Jasmine's question before there was a knock at the door. The bread nearly fell out of her hand as her whole body jumped. Before she could stop Jasmine from answering the door, she heard his voice and her heart stopped. How had he found her? She didn't even leave a trail...at least, she didn't think she did. The sound of Jasmine choking was enough to make her jump out of her chair and nearly run out into the open. She stopped right before she stepped out, her body still hidden from his sight in the kitchen. If she went out without a plan, he surely would kill them both before they could do anything. She took a deep breath and focused her energy on her hands to get ready to use her powers on him. Thanks to Jasmine, she had gained enough strength back to put up one hell of a fight, and she would make damn sure Joseph knew it too. "How did you find me?" Her voice rang through the house as she used her powers to move the sound waves around the room, that way he wouldn't be able to pinpoint her current position.
