James walked around the streets of the town as the moonlight washed over the shadows, gave the whole area a eerie feel to it. He kicked a few pebbles around, enjoying the fact that there was no one out at this time of night. Especially since he hasn't been sleeping, late night walks had become a habit of his. As he turned the corner, James noticed a light spilling into the streets from a home not to far from where he was standing. Curiosity took over him as he slowly made his way over to the house. Blood littered the doorstep and he could smell remnants of burning flesh. His muscles tensed as he took a step inside and saw a woman lying on the floor unconscious. "Miss? Miss, are you alright?" James ran into the home and knelt down next to the woman. She was covered in blood and bruises, clearly telling him that something had happened here. He looked around the house and saw that the furniture was all turned over and out of place. Gently moving the woman, he held her in his arms as he tried to wake her, praying that she was not dead.

Jasmine felt herself being moved and little by little she came too and saw someone leaning over her looking extremely worried and if Jasmine had been in any mood she might have thought he was attractive. "Am I dead?" She asked in a raspy voice before glancing over and seeing the door that was still wide open and everything came rushing back to her. "Kayley!" She all but shouted as she nearly knocked heads with the man who had clearly come to check on her. "Did you happen to see a man dragging a young woman off?" Jasmine asked as she fought not to be sick all over the man in front of her. Though Jasmine was pretty sure she had a concussion if she was any judge.

James did his best to keep the woman still in his arms. He was sure she had some serious injuries and if she made any sudden movements she would definitely feel it. "No you're not dead. What happened here?" Before he could get a response out of her, she must have remembered something since she shouted out another girl's name. He had to lean back suddenly to avoid their heads being banged together. "No, I'm sorry I didn't see anything. You need to stay still, you've got some pretty bad injuries." He took the chance to look over the woman's body gently, realizing how much trouble she must have been in to receive a beating like this. "Close your eyes for a second." James hovered his hand over her eyes and focused his energy. He had never healed anyone other than himself, but if he could help her in any way he was going to try. A soft light came from his hand as he focused even harder. Once he was finished, he pulled his hand back slightly to check if it worked. He used just enough to make her concussion almost non-existent and her bleeding would stop. "Does that feel better? Can you move at all?"

Jasmine made a face, she wasn't one to stay still when she could be doing something but she listened to him all the same. At his words, she frowned but didn't argue and instead allowed herself to relax. Something was going on she didn't feel as dizzy and the blood from her injury didn't seem to be bleeding like it had been earlier. Her eyes flew open and she stared at the man in front of her in shock, "What did you do?" She asked as she checked herself for injuries and finding none. "Did you heal me?" The realization was both comforting and surprising, if this man were ever found out, he like her would be in a whole lot of trouble. "I feel a lot better, thank you." She said gently as she studied him with renewed interest.

James gave her a comforting smile and nodded. "Don't tell anyone, ok?" He stood up and offered the woman a hand so she could steadily get back on her feet. "What happened here? I'm surprised the guards haven't passed by here yet. You must have been out for a few hours." He frowned and made sure to stay close to her just in case she wasn't quite stable yet. Maybe she had been in business with the wrong people or something, but he had never seen consequences like that before.

Jasmine smirked and let her eyes turn a brief ruby red, "Don't worry your secret is safe with me." She said once he had pulled her up to her feet. Jasmine felt her expression fall at his question, "I don't even know how long it's been. An hour maybe more? The last thing I remember was that terrible man breaking into my home. There was a girl who was like us...he took her and I wasn't fast enough to stop him." She said with self-loathing. "I promised Kayley, I'd take care of her and I've only made things worse for her." Jasmine muttered under her breath. "There has to be something he left behind...a way for me to find him." She continued, casting her eyes about the room.

James raised an eyebrow at the mention of another woman. Ariel had mentioned a young girl running from a man as well...could it be the same girl? When the woman mentioned that she wanted to find the man, he frowned. "You need to regain your strength first. I'm sure that girl got away or something and she's fine. I will send for some help for her." Once he has Jasmine stable enough to be on her own, he would go to the guard. Maybe they'll listen to him because of his father's position and not ignore him.

"Look I appreciate the concern but I made a promise to Kayley that I would look after her and I don't want to let her down, not again." Jasmine admitted. At his words she shook her head, "No the man who took her, he dragged her with him and he was strong. I have a feeling he's not going to let her get away very easily." Jasmine continued. She grabbed some of her things and moved towards the door, "Thank you again by the way." She said as she turned to look over at him. Her hands drew a dark robe around her hiding most of her body and shielding her hair, "You're welcome to join me but I'm going to find out if there's anything I can do." She stated.

James frowned when the woman didn't listen to him and started gathering her things. "Wait, I can't let you go. Did you not see what he did to you? You'll get yourself killed." He grabbed her arm before she could leave his sight. "If you wait until morning, we'll have a better chance of finding them. You can't see anything out there right now. She can make it until morning, I'm sure she's fine." He made sure to keep his grip firmly on her arm, not wanting her to leave. He already had to listen to the stories of when Ariel was attacked by her masters, he didn't want to be responsible for this woman getting killed.

Jasmine glanced down at the hand on her arm, "First of all yes I did happen to see what he did, but he's not the only one hurt." Jasmine stated coldly. "Second of all, hands off the merchandise before I make you fantasize about men in loincloths." She said with a deadly serious look on her face. "Third I happen to have a lantern and I was going to use it to light my way. I was supposed to protect Kayley and I didn't, out there people don't care about people like us. I'm not going to turn into one of them." She said before she yanked her arm free.

James bit his tongue as Jasmine scolded him and dropped his arm back down to his side. He knew she wasn't going to listen to him so he sighed and grabbed his cloak. "Fine, don't blame me when you can't find anything." James threw on his cloak and headed out the door into the streets. Once he got a few feet away from her, he stopped and looked back, giving her a bored look. "Are you coming or what?"

Jasmine blinked in surprise when he walked ahead of her, she made a face and moved to get her lamp that hung on the hook next to the door. Once she lit it, she followed after him, "Why the change of heart?" She asked curiously. Her eyes were on the trail ahead of them as they walked and Jasmine noted a few broken branches off of the dirt path and a strand of hair that she recognized. "Well at least we're on the right track." She said quietly as she bent down to examine some of the tracks. The situation reminded her of one of her past boyfriends who had been a tracker, he had taught her a few things to get by.

James didn't bother looking at her as they walked, keeping his eyes focused on their surroundings. The woods still freaked him out, especially since the attack. He gave her a short glance at her question and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't want your death on my conscious. Come on, over this way." Ignoring the broken branches, James stepped onto the side of the path, listening. Once he thought he heard something in the distance, he started walking. "My name is James by the way."

Jasmine made a face and followed after him, pausing in step when she heard something off in the distance. Yet she followed after him as he kept walking, "Jasmine, and I'm sorry about all of this." She said quietly. She was pretty sure he hadn't exactly wanted to come on this trek through the woods at this godforsaken hour. Jasmine stopped when she heard a loud crackling noise not too far away from them, "That sounded close." She said after a moment. (it could be a rabbit or something XD)

James fingered at the knife in his pocket as they walked through the darkness. He had made it a habit since that night to start carrying a weapon of some sort, whether he'd need it or not. He raised his eyebrow at her apology and laughed. "Don't apologize, I never get to have adventures anymore. I'm actually rather enjoying this." His words came out almost playfully, despite the situation they were tracking down. The woods still gave him the creeps but they also made him feel alive. Maybe it was just his changing blood, he didn't know. At the sound of a crack in the distance, James froze and his arm immediately went up to hold Jasmine back in a protective manner. As he slowly pulled the knife out of his pocket, the bushes in front of them rattled until a fluffy little bunny popped out and stared at them. He lowered his knife and cursed to himself. "Damn little thing..." he dropped his arm from Jasmine and stuffed his hands into his pockets, feeling stupid for trying to attack a bunny.
