Helga moved towards the riverbank, she had been on a long run through the forest. However she felt more alive then she had in months, she shook out her mane and debated if she should shift into her human form. When she was in her unicorn form, she felt free and unstoppable. In her human form, well it was far more constricting in some respects. To make matters worse, the clothing women were expected to wear were even more so. The sunlight's rays hit the water in a nearly romantic manner, but Helga paid no attention to it. Her mind was focused on her conversation with the little girl from last night. She had forgotten how innocent girls could be, not realizing how dangerous the world could be.

Laila hid behind a tree, watching the beautiful creature by the river. This was the first time she saw a living unicorn - all the others had been dead. Gifts from powerful people when she was queen, who thought it would give them more power by showing that they could kill them. Laila on the other hand always found it disgusting - who could watch a creature like this and wanted to kill it? Slowly she moved closer to it, extremely carefully so she wouldn't startled it. "Hi there." Laila said with a soft voice. From her bag she took out some carrots - which she hoped the unicorn would like. "Do you want some treats?"

Helga turned as she heard someone approach her from behind and stepped back slowly as she studied the newcomer warily. As the woman withdrew some carrots Helga snorted in amusement and shook her head, her long silvery mane flowing as she did this. "I'm afraid I'm not one for carrots." She said eventually, knowing that she might very well be surprising the woman simply by talking. "I appreciate the offer though." Helga continued graciously, she meant everything that she said and had a feeling the woman in front of her would not harm her.

Laila had heard rumors that some unicorns could be half-humans, and therefore could talk - but it still suprised her when she heard the creature speak. Feeling a little foolish, she straightened her back and placed the carrots back in her bag. "I'm sorry that I sneaked up on you- but it's not everyday you see a unicorn." She said with a little laugh. "My name is Laila. What's yours?"

Helga laughed, "My name is Helga, it's a pleasure to meet you Laila. Forgive me for saying so but you seem different somehow." Helga noted curiously as she regarded Laila with interest. The woman in front of her appealed to her in a manner that Helga had never quite experienced around other humans before, which made her all that much more interesting.

"Nice to meet you too, Helga." Laila said with a smile - which grew even bigger by the unicorn's comment. "Well, I am different - I guess." She laughed. "I've a ability to "control" animals, so maybe it's that what you're feeling? I don't know if it works on unicorns though - especially when you have a clear mind of your own and can speak." Laila shrugged and sat down on the grass by the river. The beautiful surrounding, together with a unicorn, really made the air full of peace and harmony - something that Laila hadn't feel in a long time. "say, are you able to shift forms? Or is this one your one and only?" She asked and tilted her head to the side as she looked at Helga.

Helga moved to stand next to her, "Well I can turn into a human but I much prefer my true form. Humans are so limited, although with everything going on I have to blend in." She admitted with a shudder. Turning into a human felt so wrong on many different levels. As she had told Laila, being human was limiting and it felt like she was denying herself. "I sometimes wonder how humans can stand it, being so normal." She added thoughtfully. "Yet every day we see violence carried out against our kind by humans. It's strange to think that they could hate and fear us so much." Helga went on.

"I don't have any other form to compare with, so I guess I have to take your word for it. Still, we "humans" can be whatever we want - it's all an illusion really." Laila shrugged with a smile. As someone who spends alot of time with animals, she had never felt like she didn't belonged with them - and she could do what they could. Climb, run, fight. She always felt more like home around animals than humans.. "They only hate us because we're stronger than them. But they don't want to admit it." Laila laughed softly. "So, how many unicorns does it exist here in Paraise?"

Helga considered Laila's words, "I suppose you are right, I meant no offense by the way. With your abilities, I hardly see you as a human and that is a compliment." She said honestly and meaning it. At Laila's other question, she let out a sigh "Not as many as there once was I'm afraid." Helga slowly admitted. "In Paradise, I've only met a handful. They choose to keep to themselves for the most part. I'm a little unique in some ways." The words sounded bitter but Helga was being matter of fact when she said this. Most unicorns preferred isolation, Helga had always liked meeting others outside of her clan. As such, she was generally seen as an outsider and was sometimes shunned for being so willful.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Laila said sadly and let out a small sigh. "Have you ever been outside of Paradise? Maybe there's a place where unicorns can live in peace? Without humans?" She asked to try to lighten the mood a little. Laila didn't wan't to think about all the people she had lost in her life, so changing the subject was a good idea. "And, can all unicorns change to humans? Or is it just you?" She asked curiously.

Helga thought of the question, "We've tried to settle in different places, but nothing ever stayed ours for very long. Paradise was one of the places we had settled in, initially, that is until the humans arrived. They wanted to share the land with us but as the years passed, more humans arrived and the rest is history." Helga said as she moved to lay down next to Laila. "It's a very rare ability to be able to shape shift, and I happened too meet someone who needed my help. In exchange for my help, he gave me the ability to shape shift." Helga admitted. "What about you? Were you born with your talents? Or were you granted them?" She asked curiously.

"Ah.. So the humans took your land and slaughtered your kind? That's harsh." Laila said with a deep sigh and leaned back on her hands as Helga laid down next to her. "I was born with mine, but my parents made sure that I would. In the past, my family were very powerful and important - so the parents always did everything they could to make sure that their children wasn't powerless." Laila shrugged with a smile. "So I guess I'm both born with it - and were granted it" She laughed softly. "But your first time as a human must've been strange for you. With hands and feet.." Laila continued to laugh at the funny thought.

Helga nodded, "Yes but that's not how history records it." She added with a little laugh. She brightened at Lailia's other words, "I will admit, I was not very graceful the first time I transformed. In fact it took quite some time before I adjusted to the balance and only two feet." Helga said with amusement. She had taken quite a few falls as she had struggled to adapt to her human body. She was grateful not very many had witnessed such an embarrassing moment.

"For how long have you been able to transform? And how old are you?" Laila asked with a continuing curiosity. "And.. When you transform - are you naked then? How do you find clothes?" She giggled. It was a long time since she had a fun conversation with someone, and she wanted to know so much about this magical creature.

Helga couldn't help joining in with Laila's laughter, "All good questions! Well, I've known how to transform for a few centuries now. I am twenty-three hundred years old, so I've seen many things occur during my time here. As for the clothing, well the first few hundred times I shifted I was indeed naked." Here Helga blushed as she recalled scandalizing quite a few people. "However I have learned how to conceal myself properly, I use an illusion spell so that way I don't appear naked. I will admit, it's never very exact but it's better then appearing in the nude." Helga said with a chuckle. "I do have quite a few amusing stories that I'd like to tell you, if you don t mind hearing them." She added
