Betrayal - A AU Fanfic {Tag: James Frollo}

James had snuck away in the middle of the night, making sure not to wake Ariel up as he slid out of the bed silently. He ran a hand through his hair as he looked down at her sleeping body. Why he kept sneaking away like this, he didn't know. He truly loved her but the sensation he got from being with Eric was enough to keep him coming back for more.
James made his way out of their bedroom, making sure not to step on any creaky floor boards on his way out. The door silently clicked shut and he stood still for a moment, listening to make sure he hadn't woken her. Once he was satisfied, he walked down a few hallways until he came to their secret room. A room only he and Eric knew about. He pushed open the door, his face lighting up as he saw his lover already waiting for him, completely naked and vulnerable upon the bed. Without saying a word, James threw off his clothes as he made his way over, completely forgetting to click the door shut all the way. Eric pulled him down onto the bed and the two started their nightly routine. A groan flew past his lips as Eric thrust into him, his world exploding in pleasure. He clutched the sheets beneath his body as his body continued to moan from the touch.
A loud bang caused his eyes to fly open and his gaze came to a body in the doorway. His heart sank and he immediately pushed Eric off of his body, his face burning red. "Ariel! I, I-" His words came to a halt as a pillow crashed into his face. When he looked back up, she said already gone. "God damn it, Ariel! Wait!" He jumped out of bed, ignoring Eric's protests as he threw in his pants and ran out of the room. James followed her all the way home, chasing her up the stairs to their bedroom. She wasn't listening to him as he called out to her and it broke his heart. As he burst into the room, a dress flew into his face, causing him to stumble back. "Ariel please, I...I'm so sorry." He threw the dress onto the ground and approached her, practically pinning her between him and the wall. "I made a mistake, I'm sorry. I love you, please believe me." He gripped her shoulders, forcing her to look at him. His eyes showed guilt and regret as he looked down at her.

"Please, look at me!" James tried to move her face to him with his hand but she refused to release her grip on her body. "I won't lie to you, it wasn't the first time but..." He couldn't explain his actions to her, much less to himself. It hasn't even occurred to him to think why he continued to do what he's done. When she started demanding to know what she had done, he moved the loose strands out of her face so he could see her, her tears tearing a hole into his heart. "You didn't do anything. It's all my fault, I gave in to this stupid feeling I had and now it's tearing me away from you. Please Ariel, just look at me." James tried to take her hand but as soon as he did, he felt a sharp sting against his face and he stumbled backwards. His hand slowly reached up and lightly touched the skin where she had slapped him, his gaze to the floor. Anger welled up in his chest and he looked up at her with a darkened gaze. His animal instincts were beginning to take over and he couldn't fight them off. James' eyes turned yellow, although they flashed a blood red color as he looked at her and he cracked his neck. "Fine, if you won't listen to me, I'll just have to make you." He took hold of her wrist, yanking her from the wall and threw her onto the ground. James ignored her cries and walked towards her before bending down and caressing her cheek in a loving manner, despite the darkness in his eyes. "You know I love you darling." He flashed her a grin until he felt her foot connect with his stomach, Ariel kicking him away and he fell back onto the ground. James clutched his stomach and have her an annoyed look. Before she could stop him, he was on top of her, pinning her arms and legs down. When he grinned down at her, his eyes blood red, his fangs grew out and he buried his face into her neck. He kissed her neck, lightly at first but then traced his fangs across her skin until a thin stream of blood emerged. James let out a deep chuckle as he pulled back. "What's the matter baby? This remind you a little too much of daddy?" He grinned evily and tightened his grip on her wrists. Whenever his eyes flashed red, he seemed to bring out a whole new personality. One much like his father's.

Before James could react, a sudden force blew over him and he was thrown off of her body. He crashed back into the wall and sunk to the floor as his vision blacked for a moment. Her words came over him in an echo, causing a low chuckle to erupt from his throat. Slowly his world came back into focus just in time for him to see her running from the room. He cracked his neck once more before pushing himself up off the ground and followed her downstairs. Thanks to his speed, James was able to catch up to her in a matter of seconds. Ariel had run into the downstairs living room, glancing behind her to see if he was following, but when she turned back around, there he was standing in front of her. "What's the matter sweetheart? Am I scaring you?" He grabbed her wrist before she could run one more time and pulled her body to his until they were flush together. His hand took a firm grip on her chin to hold her face in place and he forced a rough kiss on her. His fangs pricked against her bottom lip, letting small drops of blood drip into her mouth so the taste of iron filled her taste buds. Once he was satisfied, James released her from his kiss and looked down at her with his red eyes. Fear clouded her eyes and all that did was make him smile. Why he was acting this way, he didn't know, but his animal side wasn't letting go of it's control. He could feel his human self inside trying to take over but it kept getting pushed down. His grip tightened on her wrist as she tried to escape him and he simply glanced down at her in annoyance. "You should know that you can't run from me." He brought his free hand up and wiped a small drop of blood off the corner of his mouth. It must have been from when he kissed her but it didn't matter to him as he looked at the blood on his finger. His claws suddenly extended from his fingertips and his gaze returned to hers before an amused look crept onto his face. Before she could realize what he was about to do, the claws in his other hand shot out, tearing into her wrist where he held her to him and her blood dripped onto the floor. He heard her whimper and he just let go of her wrist as she fell to her knees in front of him, clutching her injured wrist. "Thanks to your new...powers, you can't heal yourself, can you? And pretty boy here won't help you, not while I'm in control." A chuckle erupted from his throat as the words echoed, his animal side revealing to her that it had control over James' body and not him. He lifted his foot, gently placing it on her chest before he kicked her back until she was lying on her back on the ground.

James looked down at her with an evil grin on his face as he licked a bit of her blood off of his fingers. The taste of iron exploded throughout his mouth before he knelt down next to her, keeping his gaze pinned on her. "Oh you know I'm not gonna kill you baby, he loves you too much. But I will hurt you. Really, really, bad." A chuckle erupted from his throat as he grabbed her hair and pulled her up to his level. He dragged one claw across her collarbone, watching as streams of blood dripped down her body, soaking the nightgown that clothed her body. Once he was finished with that, he dropped her back to the floor and roughly took a hold of her injured wrist. "Let's see how much damage I can do until lover boy here get's too angry with me." He looked at her out of the corner of his eye and he flicked one claw and dug it into her wrist. Her screams of pain only made him grin as he moved down her body, his hand resting on her stomach lightly. Before she could react, his hand flicked up and cut open the top of her nightgown to reveal her chest to him. He used one claw to trace the area between her breasts where her scar used to be, his sharp claw leaving a red trail behind it, not of blood but of irritated skin so she could see the shape that it used to hold on her body. "Remember this? How that little demon man took control of you?" He moved the claw to the center of it and lightly pushed down until it popped into her skin, causing a bubble of blood to surface around his claw. It didn't go in more than a half an inch but it was enough to simulate the horror in her mind, he was sure of it.
At that point, he felt a pang of pain explode in his head, causing him to stumble back and land on his butt on the ground beside her. He grimaced as he clutched his head. "Looks like that did it." James flashed Ariel a devilish look, his red eyes flickering between yellow and red. He cried out and his eyes slammed shut as his body convulsed, throwing him back against the wall as his human form began to take over the animal. After a few moments, his body sat completely motionless, his breathing halting to a stop. Suddenly, he was gasping for air as he clutched the ground beneath him. James looked up, his vision slowly unblurring and his heart stopped. His hazel eyes stared at the scene before him; Ariel bleeding all over the floor, the fear in her eyes as she looked at him. He looked down, realizing that his hands were covered in blood...her blood. His immediate reaction was to reach out and comfort her but as he did, he quickly pulled his arm back, realizing that she was terrified of him. He had no clue what had just happened, no memory of the animal that had taken over his body like that. "By the gods...Ariel...I.." He couldn't say the words as his body began to shake, sweat dripping from his forehead. Tears stung at his eyes but he refused to let them fall. "I'm so sorry...."

A sudden gust of wind flew through the room, scattering any loose objects across the floor. Daemon emerged from the shadows, clutching a silver blade in his right hand as he walked towards the two bodies on the floor. He walked past Ariel, practically ignoring the girl as he made his way over to James' crumbled body. Without saying a word, he flicked the blade up into his hands, grabbing both of James' wrists and slicing them with he silver blade. Daemon wasn't faced when the man cried out in pain and his skin singed just slightly. "There, that should hold off that little bastard for a while." He turned his back to James and made his way back over to Ariel and took in her injuries. Kneeling down beside her, Daemon hovered his hand over her chest, a bright light shooting from his hand into her body. The light enveloped her, lighting her up like an angel and when the glow faded, she had no injuries, no scars. She should have been completely healed and he mended her clothes in the process as well. He stood up, acting as if the scene had caused him no distress at all. Daemon knew something was wrong when he hadn't seen Ariel the past few nights and when she was in distress, the angels wouldn't stop chattering about her in the atmosphere. Somehow he had managed to catch them in time so nothing extreme happened, but that was the first time he'd seen a supernatural taken over by their animals part. The blade he brought was an ancient angel weapon meant to kill off any evil spirits or supernaturals that went out of control. He hadn't bothered with killing the man, knowing all to well that Ariel would be furious with him if he had done so. "Now...what happened? You must have done something to him to get him out of control like that." He directed the words to Ariel but before she could respond, he returned his attention to the man. "And you. You could have killed her tonight. If you can't control that beast inside of you, I won't hesitate to kill you next time." He gave James a dark gaze before he leaned back against the wall and left the floor open for someone else to talk.

James jumped as his house erupted in winds and revealed a man emerging from the sudden shadows. He felt too weak to even bother asking who the man was, but when he suddenly came at him with a blade, James was worried it was the end for him. Was this man Ariel's guardian angel or something? He was dragged out of his thoughts when the man grabbed his wrists and cut him with the blade, his skin singing and burning in the process. James cried out and clutched the skin before slamming his back against the wall to counteract the pain. He couldn't get his voice to work, to ask what the hell was going on, but his thoughts were quickly silenced as the stranger began to heal Ariel and mend her clothing. His teeth ground together as he held in his urge to question. This man seemed really powerful and after what had just happened, James couldn't even move and could barely talk. When he was scolded by him, James dropped his gaze to the ground, knowing all to well that the threat was as serious as it could be.

Daemon frowned as the girl spoke and shook his head. "It was bound to happen. That's why I've been training you." He unfolded his arms and moved next to her, kneeling down and taking her chin in his hand so she would have to look at him. "You can't blame yourself. But next time, you need to use your powers. You can control him, even when he gets lost in who he is." His gaze moved over to James, knowing the man would have questions. "Ever since Ariel changed, I've been showing her how to use her new powers. Yes, I'm an angel. A fallen angel, but I still have my duties." He stood up, dropping his hand from Ariel's chin and walked over to the man. "Those seals should keep you from having another outburst but it's not a guarantee. You need to learn how to control that monster before I'll set you free."

James looked up, his vision blurring from the pain in his body. It felt like he was on fire everywhere. His head burned, his stomach, everything. He knew of Ariel's changes but the fact that she had an angel training her? How had he not known? "I'm sorry....I don't know what happened." his voice was a whisper as he spoke, not daring to look at either of them. He was a monster and he knew it.
