Personally, Alice was still amazed that Wendy left her out of her sight after what happened at the forest. She had never seen her friend so angry before. And while Wendy had said she had forgiven her, Alice still felt like she wanted to make things up to her. She wasn't sure how, but she wanted to try. Today though, she tried to keep stuff like that out of her mind. She had happier things to focus on, like meeting Taran again. They had decided to meet in town to hang out together, while Wendy ran some errands. Although, Alice felt like Wendy was only comfortable with this because Alice wouldn't be alone. Granted, Taran didn't have any powers like Wendy did, but Alice still felt safe with him. He was a teenage boy, he could probably beat up some things. She gave a little laugh at the mental image as she sat at the edge of the huge fountain that lay in the middle of the town square.

He was walking around town since he got another day off from work so, he was trying to think about what to do on this fine day. His sister was working and did not have time to play with him, so, he as was looking for either Alice or Wendy to play with. He then just remembered that Alice was going to meet him in town, so, he was off to look for her. Time to kill a couple of hours by playing pirates or tag. He had his wooden sword in hand and was continuing to look for his new friend; he then found her sitting down and he walks up to her and taps her shoulder. "Argh! Matey! Taran, the mighty pirate has arrived! How ye' been, mate?" He asked, in his attempted pirate accent.

Alice jumped slightly when she felt a hand tap her shoulder. She spun around to see that it was Taran. She hadn't even heard him coming. It looked like he was already in full-on pirate mode. She had to laugh at his pirate voice. It was pretty spot-on, if the stuff she had read about pirates was true. She hadn't exactly seen one in person. She was sure it would be amazing, though. 'I'm doing well," she replied. She then noticed the wooden sword in his hand. "Whoa, I need to get one of those," she said, poking the wooden blade curiously with her finger. "Did you make this yourself?"

He saw that she was a little surprised that Taran was there to show up and say, "hello" and he did give out a sheepish smile, and he saw that she admired his pirate tone. "Lass, glad that ye be fine today, y'arggh!" He responded, as he was in pirate mode. He wished that his sister, Eilonwy could play with him at times, but, was glad that Alice was there to play along with him. He felt glad that he got someone to play with, and best of all, he can play with her on his day off. He then saw that she was commenting on his wooden sword, and he was glad that she was there to comment on his work. He did remember making it when he was only twelve, and luckily, it was in tip-top shape, and felt admired as he even heard that she, herself wanted one as well. He scratches his head, with a sheepish small laugh and nods his head. "Yes, I made it myself around two years ago. My father, before he passed on, did give me instructions to make this wooden sword. I still have the instructions, and if you want one day, I can make you one, just like mine so, we can sword fight, just like the real pirates!" He said, and hands it over to her so, she can look at it.

Alice gave an "Arrgh," in reply before giggling. Taran was definitely one of the friends she had that made her laugh the most. Not to mention, she felt like he thought like she did. They both liked exploring, dreaming of adventure, pretending they were somewhere else. She almost wished the two of them could just go on a boat and sail around the world, see what there was to see. But imagining leaving home and actually doing it were two very different things. At heart, Alice was still a little kid who liked her toys, her house, and her parents. She couldn't imagine living without them. She was sad to hear though, that Taran's dad wasn't with them anymore. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said. She couldn't imagine what it was like to lose a parent. Despite her mother and father being super protective of her, she still loved them dearly. She looked at the sword curiously, running her hand along the wooden blade. Her head shot up though, when Taran said he could make her one if she wanted him to. "Would you really? Oh, thank you Taran!" She immediately gave him a hug. A wooden sword would be a very fun thing to have around. Surely her parents wouldn't disapprove too much if she told them it was a gift from a friend.

He heard her giving out a pirate call as well, and he thought that this was an opportunity to play with the girl since they haven't seen each other in a long time and he was smiling as he heard that playful pirate sound. He thought that playing with a girl who had the same interests as him was really fun and he thought that he could connect with her really quickly. He thought it would be fun one day that one day, the both of them could be pirates and do the following things that pirates like to do best: treasure hunt, sing pirate songs, and just go on adventures in general. Although the thought could be fun, in reality, he too, would be missing his mother, and of course, Elionwy, the only two important family figures in his lifetime. He heard her apologizing about his loss and he nods, as he was accepting her sympathy. "It's alright. I always think of him from time to time, but I know that he is right here.." He said, and points to his heart. Although father is dead, he will still try to keep memories of him by looking at mother's photo-book. He then saw her looking at the sword again and he could tell that one day, after he makes one for her, she and him will play pirates; he then felt her hugging him and he started to blush a little, and he immediately hugged her back. "Anything fer a friend, like ye, first mate!" He could imagine the two of them playing together, like sword fighting. "If you want, I can also try to make a wooden boat for us to play pirate ship as well!" He said, with pure excitement. "So, mate, what shall we do today in tis' lovely town?" He asked, in a pirate accent.

Alice gave a little nod. People always seemed to say that when they lost people they loved. They kept saying they were never really gone as long as they were remembered. Alice felt like that was a little easier said than done, though. Thinking about someone and actually having them around were two very different things. Luckily, Taran didn't mind talking about his dad, for a little bit at least. But the conversation soon went back to pirates, and Alice figured she might as well keep it that way. She wanted Taran to have a good time after all, and talking about his dead father wasn't exactly fun. "Wow, that would be amazing!" she said excitedly when Taran said he might even be able to build a boat. When he asked what they should do, she thought for a moment before replying. "Hmm, we'll need some good materials for our ship. To the carpenter's store! Away!" She held up a fist as if a sword was in her hand and hurried down the street. A sudden thought came to her though, and she skidded to halt before turning around to Taran and asking "Do you know how to sail a boat? 'Cause I have no clue." The few times she had been on a ship, it was always sailed by somebody else. She didn't have any idea how to run one.

As he thought about his father once again, he tried to think of the positives of him, and of course, mother would tell him about the time that he was in the war, and as he listened to those stories, the main motif would be based on heroism and of course, pirates could be heroes and one day, he would have to tell Alice about the one war that he fought in, but, he did not want to bore her out. But, one day, he would tell her about what happened. The conversation transitioned to pirates, which was his comfort zone and he did like pretending to be one with her, and of course, having Alice as his best friend would make it more fun to play pirates with her, and he did promise that he would make a sword for her, and now it was time to make the ship. It may be out of wood, but, it had to look at least professional, instead of finding some twigs on the ground and making it look unreal. "Yes, ere' ship shall look nice, mate." He responds, in his pirate accent. As soon as he was going to go the carpenter's store to get the items, he heard her question on how to stir the ship. "Well, from what I read in books, you have to secure the sail by steering a boat either with the wind or away from the wind. I also remember the same book mentioning that the captain has to adjust the angle of the ship. It may sound complicated from words, but, once your on the boat, we will both learn really quickly." He briefly explained. "So, matey, ready to be off to the store to make our ship?" He asked, as a tone of excitement came out of his voice.

Alice blinked. There sure were a lot of big words when talking about sailing. Taran seemed to know what he was talking about, but Alice found it hard to picture what he was saying. "Maybe I'll leave all the technical stuff to you, matey," she said, clapping Taran on the back. "Once we get a boat though, we'll have to find our two captains and show it to them." Wendy and Eilonwy had said it would be interesting for them to be captains of a ship. And Alice felt like the two would work splendidly together. "Let's go!" she shouted loudly before running off again as if leading a charge. The carpenter's store soon came into view, and as Alice looked at it, she wondered if she would even be able to help that much. The place certainly had a lot of wood, and of many different types too. She saw labels for pine, birch, oak, and a lot of others she hadn't heard before. Sure, she and Taran could go the cheaper route and get the wood themselves from a couple of trees, but that would take ages. This way, it was much quicker. "Whoa. I never knew wood could be so complicated," she said as she looked around.
