((Hello everyone! This is my second entry for the second contest. I worked hard on this one and it was a little challenging to write, so, I hope you all like this!))
The invitations came to the home of the siblings, Eilonwy and Taran. It had said something involving the new king of Paradise which they do not know will be good or bad, since there were major events regarding a framing of the ball. They also remembered that the previous king was going to be getting rid of the Supernatural creatures, so, they are not sure if this new one will do the same.. Although they were also to see everything, they also remembered that they told mother what happened at the ball that very night.
Knowing that it was only going to be for the high class, Eilonwy still wanted to know who the new king is going to be. Taran was just as curious as his sister. They were poor, so, they had nothing to wear or buy. So, just like the last time, mother and Eilonwy had to create outfits to look like the rich townspeople. The outfits will have to take longer since this is not a masquerade party; this is a coronation, a party where people see the new king. So, the outfits had to be picture perfect.
“So, dear, do you know who the new king I going to be?” Mother asked, in a sweet voice. She did hear from her daughter, as she remembered hearing that something happened to the other prince so, there was a reason as to why this new king is taking over the land of Paradise. “To be fair, I have no idea. I believe its some new prince from Maghden; however, I may not know his name.” She replied, as she was working on the dress. When Taran was hearing the conversation from another side of the home, he heard his sister mentioning “Maghden,” and he remembered the name being “Phillip.”
“I know who it is. I believe its Phillip. I met him once when I had my day off from work; he seemed like a very nice fellow to be a king. He did accept me going for a grand tour of the Town Square with me o, I’m thinking optimistically about him being a great king, and I’m sure that he will he will be nice to all the townspeople.” He said, with a positive look onto his face.
Eilonwy’s face was growing very worried as she remembered that the royal guests were only invited to go to the formal event and she felt very nervous about either being captured or kicked out of the coronation. Mother looked up at her and touches her cheek gently. “Sweetie, I will make you and Taran the mot lovely guests there.” She said, and kisses her forehead. Eilonwy looked up at her and gave her a worried smile. She did have a bad feeling about the coronation and they were supernatural creatures. So, that could be a bad sign. What if a guard captures them that night just in case their cat forms come on out?
She breathed in and out as she tried to think positive, just like her brother said. Curiosity was better that being scared and worried. But, she also did remember that there was the death of another king so, she did grow worried of the killer being there, but, the guards will know what he/she will look like anyway. Mother, seeing her growing worried again, looked at her with soothing yes to calm her worried aura. “Well, darling. If you want, I will go with you and Taran, so, I can keep you safe. I am going to make my own outfit as well. I know that these darling outfits will take weeks to do, but, as long as we work hard, we will make a good first impression to the new king.” She said, with an assuring tone in her voice and smiled at her once again. Eilonwy sighed and nods her head. Hopefully, no one would recognize them as poor people working hard to make them look worthy. “Alright, that will be grand. I’ll be staying close to Taran to keep him out of trouble. He was good at the ball though.” She said, with a small determined look on her face.
That night, mother and the daughter worked extremely hard on the outfits. This was not like the ball outfits where everything was costume related; these outfits required more work than ever. This required more sewing, fancy lacing, and more stylish colors instead of pale. Mother knew that this would be a challenge to go to the coronation because of them looking like this, but, as a mother, she would have to protect their children from the guards.
A couple of days later, their outfits were made. Eilonwy’s dress had pink fancy sashes and glued diamonds that mother collected after going shopping for cheap rhinestones. At least they were suitable for the outfit. Taran’s outfit had a green vest and grey silk-like pants that she made from many threading she did over the years. Mother’s outfit was satin purple with pearls on sleeve puffs. It was a satin dress shirt and pants. She thought the color purple went along with the royalty setting so; she hoped that the coloring was perfect. Although she did not own a sewing machine, the practicing of sewing became a natural habit. She wished that one day; she could own her own sewing shop and teach people on how to make outfits the old fashioned way.
It took at least over four weeks of fitting and sewing for the night to see the new king. As the family looked at the outfits, Eilonwy looked at Taran and mother as she sighed. “We all look dazzling, don’t we my children.” Mother said, and smiled at the siblings. Taran, personally loved the outfit, but, Eilonwy was still feeling nervous. It was time to go traveling as she had no time to worry about anything happening to any one of them. “Alright, let us do this, in harmony.” The daughter said, with a low look of confidence. Mother, looking at her again, gave her a small kiss on the head.
As soon as they walked to the castle, Taran was complaining on how his shoes were too tight, but, it was the only dress related shoes that father owned that he donated to Taran before passing away. “Quit complaining.” Eilonwy pouted and rolled her eyes at him. The big night was heading upon them; so, they had to act proper without acting as though they are poor.
The castle looked beautifully decorated as though it was ready for a giant event like this. It was more than a ball since it was going to involve a new king taking over. Taran felt like going around, but mother and Eilonwy nodded their heads.
“No Taran. You don’t want us to get kicked out. Act proper.” Eilonwy scolded. This event is going to be involving people of royalty including a Queen and King so, acting like a child is not going to make one look like a disrespectful common person instead of taking the new King seriously. Eilonwy rolled her eye at him once again. She did see other royal, rich folks there and she gulped. “What’s wrong?” Taran asked. “I got a bad feeling about this. Remember, the previous king is against supernatural creatures. Of course, not all of them are horrible. I only met one other supernatural creature and remember that talking dog?” She asked her brother as he slightly remembered the dog, and remembered meeting up with Alice and Wendy one day to see the dog. “Well, yeah, that dog was friendly.” He said, with a slight chuckle. Eilonwy personally disagreed with the law of supernatural creatures not living in the same society with ordinary humans in the same place. So far, they seemed fine to them.
Just as Taran was going to comment on something more to the conversation, the instruments started to blare. The loud noise of the music, including the trumpets did hurt their ears but expected something this loud to be played and at an appropriate time like this. There were guards walking around which made Eilonwy nervous, thinking that they were going to get them first. “We will be fine, just watch the new king come onto the throne. Be sure to smile and wave to him politely.” Mother whispered to her daughter and Eilonwy took her breath. This is it. Time for the coronation to begin and it was time to meet the new king.
