Marina had been at the markets and bought some fresh vegetables and bread while humming a song while she walked at the streets. Marina had been so happy all the time since Edward proposed to her and she was able to move on with her life after putting her fear aside. She giggled when she thought about the upcoming wedding. She couldn't wait to see Aladdins face once he heard the great news. She had to make sure that Al, Kida and Mulan were invited there. She just passed the bookshop and looked at the books. There was one book there in the window that brought some memories back to her. It was a book about princess thief in a desert land who fell in love with the prince she was going to kidnap. But the result was that they both fell in love. Aladdin and her parents used to read that story for her when she was a child. She looked at the remaining coins in her hands and after a while she walked at the street with the book in her hands and started reading it. She was already lost in it and didn't see where she walked and bumped into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said apologizing.

Miriam walked alone on the streets of the market, bare foot and dressed in her usual ragged dress. She held a small pouch of coins close to her, intending to buy some fabric for a new dress at the market. A wallet she stole made a pretty penny at the market yesterday and she was eager to get herself out of these rags. Miriam's eyes darted upwards as a woman bumped into her, her coins falling onto the cobbled streets. She had a far off look in her eyes and a pretty smile, clutching a book close to her chest. "Oh no- It's my fault, miss, I wasn't paying attention." She bent down, scrambling to pick up the little copper coins.

Marina blushed, she wasn't paying attention either because she had been reading. She felt bad for making the other woman losing her coins. "Here, let me hep you," she said placing her book in the basket and helped gather the coins from the ground. When she looked at her face there was something recognizable with her. "You're Miriam, aren't you?" Marina asked when she finally remembered. "We barely met each other at the Winters Jubilee." She remembered that it was Facilier who had presented them to each other.

Miriam's eyes widened more when she realised who the other woman was "Oh, yes! Sorry my memory is so awful these days." She let out a slightly awkward laugh and gave the woman a small smile "Thank you for your help." She looked around the busy streets and noticed the closed sign outside the fabric shop. She was a little disappointed that her trip had been in vain, but decided to stick around for a little while to see if they'd open up. "How's life been treating you?"

"Oh, don't worry. It has been some time after all," Marina said with a gentle smile. She noticed the disappointed look in Miriams face and saw that the fabric shop was closed. It probably wouldn't take long before the shop opened. Marina felt compassion for Miriam when she saw her bare feet. Marina knew from her own experience that it wasn't easy to be poor. That was why she always had worked so hard with her performances while trying to earn extra coins for her family. She smiled friendly back to Miriam. "Life has been treating me well," she replied with a smile. Her eyes were shining when she looked barely down at her ring. "And I recently got engaged."

Miriam's smile grew wider when Marina announced her engagement "Oh Congratulations!" She looked down at the woman's hand, taken aback by the beauty of that object. That one ring could keep her fed for at least a month, it was astonishing to think. She pushed aside the tiny voice in her head telling her to tear the ring off of the woman's finger and run, Marina had shown nothing but kindness towards the girl. She didn't want to betray her trust like that. "Your ring... It's beautiful. Who's the lucky gentleman?" She asked, looking up with her deep brown eyes to meet Marina's own.

"Thank you." Her ring was the most beautiful she had ever seen. Ever since she had met Edward, she felt like the most luckiest woman in the world. Her blue eyes met Miriams eyes when she asked who the lucky one was. Her smile grew wider. "It's Prince Edward of Maghden. The younger brother of Prince Phillip." She was careful to not say it out loud. She didn't want to make a big show out of it to everyone, in case some people would react badly toward it.

Miriam gasped, covering her mouth quickly. She didn't want to draw any attention to herself or to Marina, especially given the circumstances of the engagement. "You're marrying into royalty?" She whispered as quietly as she could manage, her eyes glimmering with shock and excitement. It was like those fairy tales her father has told her. A handsome prince falls in love with a beautiful commoner and they live happily ever after. "That's- that's unbelievable!"

Marina nodded. It was almost so she couldn't believe it herself. When she first had met Edward, she thought that he only was a noble and not a prince. But she was really surprised when she learned that he was a prince and the younger brother to Phillip.

Miriam touched the woman's arm, a broad smile on her face. "I'm so happy for you!" She looked about the crowded streets and glanced over at a beggar woman. She held a child in her arms, a young boy. He looked so sick. Miriam's face fell, she hated seeing people suffer like this. "I'm glad at least one good person is getting the life they deserve..." She said, a sad smile forming on her face. The winter had been harsh, far too harsh. "Sorry- I'll be right back..." She crossed the street to the beggar woman, taking two copper coins from her pouch. "It's not much... But please stay safe." She gave the woman a small smile

"Thank you Miriam," Marina replied happily. She then followed Miriams look and saw the mother and her son in her arms. Marina nodded to Mirams words. It could have been me, Marina thought sadly. If Cassim and Aishe hadn't found her at the beach, she would have been alone and go hungry. No one to take care of her. But she was lucky that they had found her and she had learned to be grateful for even the smallest things. She looked down at her basket. She knew that her parents would understand. She broke of half of the bread and followed Miriam to the woman. "Here," Marina said and handed over the bread to the woman. The woman cried of joy. "May the gods bless you, dear girls!" the woman said.

Miriam gave a shy smile at the beggar woman's words. She wasn't entirely sure if she believed in the gods anymore; why would the gods allow so much suffering in their world? "Thank you... I wish you all the happiness in the world." She said softly, touching the woman's arm softly. She stood up and turned back to Marina, still slightly unsure what to make of Marina. She seemed kind, but kindness always masked villainy. She'd learned that the hard way. Besides the woman was openly friends with... Him... And she knew what he was capable of. "How long have you known facilier?" She blurted out, the words coming out before she could recognise she'd said them.

Marina wished that she could have done more for the woman and her child. She gave the woman a warm smile. A little confused by Miriams question she blinked a little. "I barely know him to be honest," she replied. "He saved me from the events at the masquerade ball some month ago."

Miriam sighed with relief at the woman's response. "Sorry... I-" She stopped herself from continuing. She hardly knew Marina, she couldn't just thrust all of her problems on the poor woman. "Sorry- I mean to say, when is the wedding?" There, a nice normal way to continue the conversation.

Was there something that bothered Miriam? She wasn't sure at first, but she smiled back when asked when the wedding was. "In some weeks," Marina replied. "But king Stephan and queen Leah just need to arrive here first." Just the thought of meeting them made her nervous. What if they didn't like her? She wasn't a princess or of noble birth.
