"No, no it's fine. I need to talk about it really, so I can heal." She said giving Wendy a slightly forced smile "Her name was Emily Waterdown. She was a lot like you, an orphan working as a servant in a big house. She was a fair few years younger than me, but we got along so well. She was so mature for her age, so intelligent." Her voice began to break as she continues the story "You know about the new laws? Emily was a werewolf. Some... Evil, wicked person turned her in to the authorities for 3 silver coins. She was one of the first to be-" She looked up at Wendy, wiping the tears from her eyes "I'm sorry, you probably don't want to hear about this. It's not the happiest story..."

Wendy was quiet for a moment. It sounded like Gothel and Emily's relationship sounded a bit like hers and Alice's. She was sad to hear what happened to her. It was a fate that Wendy hoped she would never get. So far though, Alice had kept her secret, and Wendy had only told those she could trust. "No, no, it's okay," Wendy assured Gothel when she apologized for what she had said. "That's just..." She sighed. "That seems to happen quite a bit these days." She paused before adding "I don't like it so much," She glanced at Gothel, wondering if that was a wise thing to say. Wendy didn't openly support supernaturals to avoid looking suspicious, but she felt like she could be honest with Gothel. Obviously, if she was upset over Emily's death, she definitely cared supernaturals.

"Me neither, Wendy, me neither." She sighed, a sad smile on her face. "Things can't stay like this forever though. Someday... Someday things will go back to normal, I hope someday soon." She thought aloud, hoping it would make Wendy feel better. She wanted the girl to forget about the world, even for a second and just have a bit of fun. She glanced down at the flower crown that was nearly complete. "You've done a fine job there, my dear! I'm sure Alice will be very happy with it!" She gave an encouraging smile at the girl trying to put all thoughts of doom and gloom to the back of her mind.

"Me too," Wendy said. She wasn't sure if it could be a quick change, though. She had a feeling that there had always been tension between humans and supernaturals. That was why everyone was so eager to have this law in place. Getting rid of it wouldn't be the only thing people would have to do to make things better. They would have to work on the relationship between humans and supernaturals, help them find a way to exist together. Part of her hoped that maybe Alice could do something like that, when she was older. Sure, she didn't have as much influence as say, the king, but being the daughter of a lord was bound to have perks. Wendy hoped that Alice could use that for good in the future. The topic soon shifted though, and it was back to talking about flower crowns. Wendy felt like that was probably best. She didn't want Gothel to get sad again. "Thanks," she said. "I'm sure she'll love it too." She paused for a moment before saying "Maybe I can bring her into town sometime to meet you. I'm sure she'd like that." Alice was always up for making new friends, even if they were a bit older than her.

"I would love to meet her, she sounds like a character." She said letting out a light chuckle. She was, of course, still shaken from thinking about Emily but she appreciated Wendy's attempts to make her feel better. "I do enjoy my visits to town, I try to go once or twice a week. The market is always a fantastic place to sell things like this." She said producing the basil she's harvested earlier. "People go crazy for wild herbs, with them being so hard to find. The forest can be so dense and difficult to navigate for those who don't know it. My herbal remedies can also sometimes fetch a pretty penny depending on who's about." She looked at Wendy apologetically "Although I doubt you're very interested in the economics of the market." She let out a light and airy laugh, giving the younger girl a small smile.

Wendy smiled at that. This Gothel woman was pretty nice. She and Alice would probably click immediately. She peeked at the basil Gothel had collected earlier. "Ooo, that looks neat," she said. She remembered stocking up on basil leaves a few times for the cook back at the house. It was interesting to know that some grew right here in the forest. Maybe she should check it out sometime, in the middle of the day, where it would probably be safe. She could probably bring Taran or Eilonwy with her if she still felt a little spooked. There was strength in numbers. She was surprised to hear though, that Gothel frequented the forest. "You go the forest all the time?" she asked. "By yourself?" Wendy could count all the times she had been to the forest on one hand. Sure, she could just fly away whenever she ran into trouble, but she felt like she couldn't rely on something like that all the time. Her luck was bound to run out eventually. So, she usually stayed away from it, so she wouldn't push her luck.

Rapunzel couldn't help but let out a small giggle at Wendy's shock. It was endearing that the girl was worried about her, she knew it was genuine concern so she managed to cease her laughter pretty quickly. "Dear, I live in the forest. Ever heard of The Golden Torch Inn?" She said gently, giving the girl another smile. "That's my place."

"I don't think so..." The name didn't ring a bell. Then again, Wendy felt like there were a lot of inns in this town. Maybe she had seen the Golden Torch Inn before and had just forgotten about it. Wendy still found it amazing that Gothel lived near the forest all the time. Some of the more monstrous supernatural creatures would probably see her as a very tasty snack. Or they would do worse things to her. "So, you're not worried about living close to supernaturals?" she asked. "Some of the more zealous people around here would probably see that as suspicious."

Rapunzel felt touched at the girl's genuine concern for her safety, she was now the second person to question her going into the forest alone. "I've been visiting the forest for almost a decade now, although I haven't always lived here. I know this place, I know many of the creatures who reside here. I'm not afraid of the supernatural." She looked about her to make sure there were no onlookers or eaves droppers before drawing closer to Wendy at whispering "My Inn is a place for supernatuals to escape to when they have nowhere else to go. Why would I fear the ones I'm trying to save?"

Wendy understood where Gothel was coming from, but her reasons still seemed a bit fishy. But then, she was told the real reason why Gothel was out here, and why she was so close to the forest. She couldn't believe it. Gothel was taking a big risk helping these supernaturals, but in a way, she was doing what Wendy could never do. Wendy wished she could help people like her, but she feared she would get caught. She wished she could be that brave. If Gothel trusted her with her secret, maybe Wendy could tell hers. "Can I...tell you something?" she asked. "I haven't told anyone else besides Alice, but...I feel like I can trust you."

"Of course, Wendy. You're free to tell me anything. I'm one of the best secret keepers in the world." She said giving the girl a reassuring smile. She had a few possibilities for what secret the young girl was keeping, she just hoped that it wasn't to upsetting. Not for her sake but for Wendy's. The girl was so young and yet wise beyond her years, she hoped hardship hadn't caused that need to act older.

"Well, the truth is...I'm not entirely human," Wendy explained. "Well, I am human, but not a...normal one." She sighed. She always had a hard time explaining this stuff. It just felt odd, talking about her powers with strangers. "Here, just let me show you." She stuck her hand out and rose it slowly upward. As it moved, a handful of tiny pebbles did the same. Wendy made them fly this way and that with only a few movements from her fingers. Then, with a simple wave of her hand, they fell back to the ground with a clatter. "I can...move stuff, with my mind," she said. "I've had it ever since I was born. I've managed to keep it a secret from everyone. Well, mostly everyone. Alice found out, but she's kept it a secret." She glanced up at Gothel, wondering what she thought.

Rapunzel sat silent, listening carefully to Wendy's words "Well, the truth is...I'm not entirely human. Well, I am human, but not a...normal one." As the younger girl sighed, Rapunzel gave an encouraging smile. She figured it would have something to do with supernatural powers, she was curious as to what she meant by "Not a normal one." As the girl raised her hand slowly, she watched in fascination. She gasped as a handful of tiny pebbles began to hover, occasionally flying in different directions. Her eyes were filled with wonder, her mouth in a permanent 'O' shape until the pebbles fell to the ground. As the girl went on to explain she returned to her listening position, her hands placed on her lap but her eyes filled with amazement. Wendy looked up at her, as if looking for her approval "That's... Amazing!" She looked at the girl with stars in her eyes "I've seen telekinesis before from witches but never with that preciseness. I didn't even know regular humans could be born with the gift" She exclaimed, looking into the girl's eyes "Never let anyone tell you that your powers are anything but brilliant, okay?"

Wendy gave a little laugh, happy that Gothel thought her powers were amazing. Alice had a similar reaction, when she first saw them. Wendy had been pretty apprehensive about it, but Alice had only praised her powers. She wondered what her parents would think, though. They weren't bad people, far from it. But they did have the opinion that supernaturals were dangerous and needed to be kept separate from humans. Wendy found it sad, that she could never tell them what she had told their daughter. "Yeah. It makes me wonder where they came from," Wendy said. "Maybe my parents had powers, but...I have no idea who they are." Like any orphan, Wendy had dreamed what her parents might be like, why they gave her up. She liked to think that they would have kept her if they could. But, over the years, Wendy had put away thoughts like that. It looked like she would never know who her parents were, so it was best not to wish for something that couldn't happen. "Nobody's said otherwise," she said with a smile. "Then again, Alice is the only other one who knows." A few people had found out at the orphanage, but they were long gone by now. They didn't need to be worried about.

Rapunzel sat in thought for a little while, listening to what Wendy has to say. Her face fell when she mentioned she didn't know who her parents were. Her mother had told her about her father, but she still didn't know who he was or who's side he was on. And of course, the more recent passing of her mother left her orphaned. She said in silence for a few seconds before asking "What's the largest body you can move? I mean some witches can learn telekinesis, but they can normally only move a single object and it's not normally very large, probably a chair or something."
