Gothel seemed to sympathize with Wendy being an orphan. Wendy wondered if she had gone through the same thing. It didn't sound like she had any family members with her. But she soon asked some questions about her powers, and Wendy was happy to answer them. "Well, in a way, I can move myself. It's...kind of weird, but, it helps me fly. Here, let me show you." Wendy stood up, brushing the grass off her skirt. She concentrated for a moment, then she slowly rose up into the air. She stopped once she had gone up a couple of feet before smiling at Gothel. "Pretty neat, huh?"

Rapunzel gasped as the girl rose up into the air. She'd never seen anything so remarkable in her life and she had seen some truly marvellous things. "That's extraordinary!" She stood up, her mouth wide and her eyes filled with wonder and curiosity. "I know you use your thoughts but... How does it work? Do you need complete concentration or is it natural?" She was gushing with questions for Wendy, her curious mind exploding with thoughts.

Wendy shrugged. "I guess it required a bit of concentration when I first started doing it. Now, it feels completely natural." She gave a little smile. "I'd love to see the town from a bird's point of view. Seeing all the houses and streets and what-not." She paused for a moment before adding "But, somebody would probably spot me in a heartbeat. It's kind of hard not to stand out when you're flying." She slowly descended to the ground, almost as if to emphasize that point. People had a way of sneaking around to try and spot people doing illegal magical things. Wendy always felt like she had to be on guard when she was out in public. It felt like the only place she could be herself was in Alice's room, with the door locked shut. "But I guess that's nothing, compared to the danger you probably face," she said to Gothel. "Are you ever scared, that someone might find out what you're doing?" Even though Gothel was a human, she could still get into a lot of trouble for helping supernaturals. She could be locked up in a dungeon forever, or worse. Wendy shuddered just thinking about it.

Rapunzel sighed, giving Wendy a sad smile "Of course I get scared. I know what they could, no, would do to me if someone were to find out." She wrung her wrists anxiously. Though the King used to be benevolent and kind, this law lead to so much torture and death she could only imagine what they'd have in store for someone like her. "But- I don't care what happens to me" She let out a dry laugh, glancing over at her younger companion and giving her a smile. "I have no one left to miss me. My mother passed on a few years back, my father was killed at war before I was born. I haven't any siblings and I've cut ties with most of my friends." Her eyes filled with regret as she thought of all the people she left behind when she ran away, she missed them more and more each passing day. "I'm more worried what will happen to the people who rely on the Inn. I don't have many people staying right now -just three young women- but in the beginning, every room in the house was filled. What if a soldier had come in and seen all of those innocent supernaturals?" She shuddered, remembering the families who had been so kind to her. They were her people, she wanted them to be safe. "There's little room for mercy in a world like this. They wouldn't have spared any-" She stopped, knowing she was probably making Wendy feel frightened or uncomfortable "I can't sit by and watch people get hurt and killed for no good reason. Some supernaturals are monsters, true, but some humans are too."

Gothel definitely seemed to understand the risks she was taking. If she messed up, she wouldn't be the only one who got killed. Any supernatural that was under her care would end up the same. It gave Wendy goosebumps just thinking about it. She was sad though, to hear that Gothel was practically all alone. She knew what that was like. Before she found a friend in Alice, she was pretty much the same: no parents, no friends. She hadn't really had a home until she started working for the Liddell family. She kind of hoped that maybe Gothel could end up the same as her. Not working as a servant persay, but just finding someone who cared about her, and vice versa. Anybody as good as she was didn't deserve to be alone. She gave a little nod of agreement at Gothel's last statement. There were supernatural and human monsters, and Wendy had seen both. But just because some supernatural beings were monsters didn't mean that all of them had to suffer.

Rapunzel looked over at Wendy, who seemed so solemn. Without thinking, Rapunzel pulled the girl into an embrace, wrapping her arms around the small girl's body "That's why we all need to look out for each other. The good ones... Like Alice, yourself and I'm sure so many more. Just because there's so much evil in the world, doesn't mean that goodness is gone. It's just a lot quieter and harder to find." She hugged the girl for a what felt like a life time- but was in fact only a few seconds- before pulling away and giving Wendy a slightly forced but bright smile. She then reached out for the flower crown that was sat by the bank, delicately placing it in Wendy's hands. Reaching into the small bag wrapped around her shoulders, she pulled out what seemed to be a pouch of herbs. "For you and Alice, it's dried chamomile. Good before bed or after a stressful day of work. I was going to sell it at market but I don't need the money, really."

Wendy was caught off-guard for a second by Gothel's embrace. But after a moment, she hugged her back. It felt nice, feeling cared for like this. She had been on her own for so long, and she was looking after Alice in a way, but she didn't really have anyone to look after her. Maybe she could get that from Gothel. She could be like a big sister or something. Wendy liked the sound of that. Gothel handed her the flower crown and some chamomile. Wendy was touched by the gesture. "Thank you. Really, you're...one of the nicest people I've ever met." Even if Gothel lived in the forest, Wendy would be sure to visit her. And she would be sure to bring Alice too. She definitely needed to meet this woman.

Rapunzel laughed softly, giving the girl a bright smile "You're a sweetheart, thank you. Make sure to come visit me, just follow the river down stream." She gestured down the river "And you'll arrive at my Inn. I'll bake something for you and Alice when you drop by." She smiled at the girl again "The doors always open for friends."

Wendy nodded. That sounded like a good idea. Alice would like that. And if her parents asked about their little excursion, they could just say that they were visiting a friend who ran an inn. They didn't have to mention which one it was, or that it was in the forest. They could probably get away with that. "Speaking of Alice, I'd better get back and give this to her," she said, holding up the flower crown. She had spent more time out here than she had planned, and her friend would probably start wondering where she had gone. "We'll be sure to visit you some time. I promise."

"I look forward to it." She said, smiling. Standing to her feet and brushing down her dress, she turned and gave Wendy a small curtsy "Goodbye Wendy, thank you for keeping a lonely girl company."

Wendy gave a curtsy. "Until next time," she said with a smile. She gave a wave before hurrying off. Who knew that she would make a friend while hunting for flowers? It sounded like the kind of thing that happened in stories more often than real life. But Wendy was still very happy about it.
