Aurora hummed a little tune as she swept out her and Naveen's home. It was small but it was perfect for the two of them. In all her years, she never thought she'd ever find someone she could really connect with until Naveen arrived. They had been dating for a few years, and had even tried to raise a family. Yet every time she became pregnant, she miscarried. It was so defeating at times but she knew Naveen loved her, even though he didn't know everything about her. The only thing he knew was that she practiced magic occasionally but he didn't know she was a dragon. She hadn't even told her family that she was dating someone who was human...her brow furrowed as she thought about how they hadn't been in contact recently.
They usually always tried to keep in touch and her heartstone hadn't registered any senses from them. Another odd thing, her parents were very good at keeping in contact but she supposed that they could just be busy. She focused on cleaning again, it had been awhile since she had really cleaned the house and it had been looking a little dusty in some areas. So far she had managed to clean the entire living room and kitchen. Next she'd work on Naveen's private rooms, he didn't like her going in there but she was sure he'd like it if she cleaned it up a little. She finished sweeping and tied her hair back into a loose ponytail as she headed to his private rooms with broom in hand. As she rested her hand on the knob, she paused there was magic protecting the door. That was strange...he had never mentioned that he used magic.
Then again it was easy enough to obtain spells like this from any common witch. Her brow furrowed and she looked around as if to double check and make sure she was by herself. Which she was and then she muttered a spell, the door swung open. "All right Naveen, let's see what you're hiding." Aurora muttered under her breath as she stepped inside his rooms. Lanterns lit as she stepped in and she froze when she saw the chests, one of them was open and inside was something horrific. She felt the urge to throw up as she stared down at the teeth glinting in the light. Dragon teeth, ones that she recognized as if they were imprinted in her memory.
Tears welled up in her vision as she stared down at the teeth as if wishing that they were some nightmare. Yet she couldn't tear her eyes away from them, there was only one way he could have obtained these. She had heard of them, what dragon hadn't? Yet to see such vulgar trophies displayed in such a manner made her both heartbroken and angry. Dragon hunters were the only ones who could stand up too a dragon and supposedly live. Yet not very many could pull it off and those who did sometimes suffered from the fight. She stepped closer towards the chest and stared down at the teeth that were assorted there. So many....how had he done it? Why had he done this? And worst of all, how had he managed to kill so many of her kind? All were questions that she had no answers for, yet all she could do was stare at those trophies in shock and horror. Did he know what she was?
Then a terrible thought struck her what if he had used her? The evidence was swiftly turning that way, as much as she hated to consider the possibility. She leaned down and ran her hand through the chest, so many teeth and each one so familiar to her. All of her siblings...her parents...her friends...she screamed and shoved the chest over as she clutched her stomach. All this time, she had been with him and he had hunted her kind...what kind of monster would be so manipulative and uncaring? Had he lied to her about how he had felt? Was their entire relationship based on lies? Of course she hadn't exactly been honest with him either...but it wasn't like she would have killed anyone he loved. Not like this...not on this scale...how many of her kind had he killed without her knowledge? She sank to the floor on her knees as heartbroken sobs left her throat. Not only had she lost her family but she had lost the one man she had loved...the one who would have been a father.
Her hands clutched her stomach as she wailed, it was as if her entire world had been ripped away from her. She had no one left...she was in point of fact very much alone. She wasn't sure how long she lay curled up on the floor sobbing, but night fell and Aurora slowly pulled herself up. So Naveen wanted to hunt her kind? Very well she'd teach him all about hunting and he would wish that he had never crossed her. Her mind had become focused on her newest objective, hunting down Naveen and taking him out. By nature, Aurora wasn't a violent being but when it came to her family she would burn villages down for every one of them. An odd calmness hit her as she stared down at the chests in the room, every single tooth had once belonged to a living dragon. She would avenge them, after all it was partly her fault that each of them was dead.
Her spine straightened as she prepared herself to leave, first off she'd change into more suitable clothes. Then she'd burn the house, it obviously hadn't meant much to Naveen anyway. Besides it wasn't her real home, a home was where one could feel safe and loved. Things that Aurora was bereft of, things that Naveen had taken from her. She slowly pulled herself away from Naveen's private rooms as she considered just what she would do. The broom fell out of her hands as she stepped into her and Naveen's room. Where just the other night, Naveen had held her in his arms and had whispered loving things in her ear. Staring down at the bed now made Aurora feel sick, how could he profess love like that when it was obvious he didn't love her? How could he? She felt the urge to cry again but she pushed it down as she brushed past the bed and flung open her closet doors.
She yanked out a white blouse, black vest and black pants. Aurora threw it all on the bed before she got out of the dress she wore. All the clothes she had ever worn while with Naveen would also burn. She didn't want any physical reminders of their relationship such as it was. The new outfit she pulled on before she cast one last look around the room, so many memories and yet it had never mattered. Never again would she fall for someone...never again would she let herself be toyed with. She was finishing this, for her fellow dragons and for her family. Her hands tightened into fists as she made her way out of the house. There was nothing there that she wanted to save and Naveen had lost any chance of keeping anything he had taken.
She shifted into her dragon form once outside the house, her tail whipped in a wild motion before she let out a stream of fire and sent her old home on fire. It was almost poetic in a sense, that house had held so many memories and yet had also held too many secrets. She turned her back on the burning building and focused on Naveen, with her magic she could find him. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she felt him, he wasn't too far away...good. She wanted to get the jump on him, make him feel hunted for once. Aurora lifted her wings and then shot up into the air, she was ready to take him down. Her entire body thrummed with energy, as she moved towards where she sensed Naveen. Her wing beats were silent, she didn't want him to catch notice of her.
She landed a safe enough distance away from where she could sense Naveen's presence. With a shake, she transformed into her human form. Her body was tense and became even more so as she reached his location. She remained hiding in the darkness before she spoke up, "So Naveen, how long have you been lying to me?" She asked as she studied him from where she stood. How could someone she had given her whole heart too still be so appealing in her eyes? It was so wrong on so many levels, and she hated herself for even thinking of it.
