Phoebus made his way to the stables to meet the princess for a late night ride to the woods. It had only been a few nights since their kiss, but he did make her a promise to take her whenever she wanted, so he had to ignore the awkward feeling in his stomach. Tonight, he had to uphold his promise with the prince and tell Odette about Jasmine, though he decided he would wait until the right moment, preferably when they were far enough from the castle.
"Are you ready to go princess?" His voice rang through the stables as he turned the corner and spotted her by the entrance. Phoebus led her horse over to her, holding the saddle steady so she could get on easily.

Odette had chosen her outfit carefully, it was a dark red gown with golden piping at the sleeves, hem and neckline. Her hair had been braided and fell over one shoulder, while a simple golden circlet completed the look. The dress while striking was also made for her to ride in so she wouldn't be having a difficult time getting in and out of the saddle. She lit up as she saw Phoebus standing near one of his mounts "Thank you sir Phoebus." She said gently and gave him a warm smile as she swung up and into the saddle with a practiced air. "Do you like to race?" She asked him teasingly, not quite able to hide her enjoyment of finally being out of the castle so far.  |

Phoebus stood in awe for a moment when he saw her, his mouth practically falling open as she swung herself up onto her horse with ease. The dress accentuated her curves in a way that gave his mind some very bad thoughts. He had never been out riding with her before and she obviously came prepared. After making sure she was secured on her horse, he climbed up onto his and wrapped the reins around his fist. "You are looking at one of the greatest riders in the kingdom my lady, are you sure you want to race with me?" His voice had a tone of teasing in it, even though he was trying to keep himself from giving her the wrong idea.

Odette felt a little blush fill her face when she saw Phoebus staring at her, clearly she had chosen her outfit wisely. A little laugh left her at his words and she glanced back at him, "I could ask you the same question." She said with a wink that she threw back at him. Before he could react she spurred her horse forward into a gallop and off towards the woods, she expertly rode along the path having clearly taken the route before. Some of her blonde hair escaped her braid as she rode and streamed behind her like a banner. |

Phoebus chuckled but before he could react or say anything else, she was already heading down the path into the woods. He sat, dumbfounded, on his horse for a moment before clearing his throat and quickly urging his horse forward. Within moments, he was gaining up on her but never surpassed her. The path had twists and turns that made it hard to pass another rider at this speed. He had decided to let her win this round, just as a confidence booster.

As they broke past the trees and into a clearing, Odette pulled her horse up, "You weren't playing fairly, I've heard stories from the soldiers you know." She said as she drew her horse up to face his. "They say you're one of the best horse riders and I want to see if the stories are true." She added as she removed her crown and fastened it on a belt loop made expressly for that purpose. After all it wouldn't do if she lost her crown while riding, "But I suppose I forgive you for going easy on me Captain." She said as she raised her head to meet his eyes. |

Phoebus pulled his horse to a stop as he saw the princess halt in the upcoming clearing. "You caught me princess, I knew you were too smart for my own good." He chuckled as he pulled his horse up next to hers and relaxed his grip on the reins. "I must admit though, you caught me off guard. I didn't expect you do be such a good rider." His hand ran through his hair as a lively spark showed in his eye. It had been a while since he had had this much fun on duty, even if they were just on a ride in the woods.

Odette shook her head, "Hardly, I just heard rumors." She said with a toss of her head, the few strands that had come free from her braid still hanging in her face. At his other words she blushed, "Yes well I've always enjoyed riding, it makes me feel like I'm free." She admitted with a little laugh. Odette watched as he pushed his hair back and suddenly remembered their kiss, she ducked her head shyly, "Want to keep riding then?" She asked quietly. |

Phoebus smiled as he looked at her. The moonlight mixed with her hair gave her a strong glow in the darkness of the woods around him. She really was beautiful and he hated that in a few moments, he would probably hurt her with what he needed to tell her. He saw her duck her head away and frowned slightly. "Sure...there is actually something I needed to talk with you about tonight. If you don't mind, of course." Grabbing hold of the reins again, he started his horse forward in a slow walk and lead her down a small path leading to the river.

 Odette frowned at the sudden change of tone and then nodded, "I don't mind." She said with a gentle smile at him as he started to lead them towards the river which shone in the moonlight. "If this is about the kiss, I just wanted to say I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that." She said in a rush once she pulled her horse to a stop. She leaned over and stroked her horse's mane, "It's been awhile since I've come here, it's so lovely." She said before she dismounted and moved to stand near the river's edge. |

Phoebus continued down the path, not turning to look at her as they walked. "You don't need to apologize. I actually enjoyed it...but there is something you should know." He pulled to a stop when she dismounted her horse and walked towards the river. After a moment, he took a deep breath and dismounted as well, tying both of their horses to a nearby tree so they wouldn't wander off. He slowly walked to her side, standing a few inches away from her and looked out at the water. "I do have feelings for you, but you must know that there is someone else." He didn't look at her, worried about her reaction and ran his fingers through his hair.

Odette glanced over at him and smiled sadly, "Well thank you for telling me, she must be pretty special this other woman." She said with a little laugh as she slipped one of her feet out of her slipper and dipped it into the cool river water. "What's her name?" She asked as she glanced over at Phoebus with a with a curious look. It hurt a little bit to know that while he had some feelings for her, there was another woman who had captured his heart. |

Phoebus let out a small sigh of relief that she wasn't angry with him. He remained on the edge of the river as she dipped her foot in, glad that she was still enjoying their ride somehow. "Her name is Jasmine." A small smile came to his lips and his eyes showed a touch of happiness. "We've been...involved for a few years now. There have been a few complications in our relationship off and on, but I know in my heart that I love her." He wasn't sure why he was telling her so much. Maybe he just thought that she deserved the truth. "I'm sorry if I've hurt you in any way, that was never my intention." He looked over at her, regret showing in his voice.

Odette chuckled and sent a little spray of water towards him with her foot, "Well she sounds amazing." She said after a moment. At his apology, she raised an eyebrow "It's fine Phoebus I know you didn't mean to hurt me." Odette said honestly before she moved to take off her other slipper, "Now I hope you don't mind but I didn't come here just to look at the scenery." She said and before he could react, she bent down and flicked some water at him with her hands, not able to hide her full on grin. |

Phoebus jumped a little when she flicked some water at him with her foot, clearly not expecting it. A smile spread across his face and he couldn't help but chuckle. As he bent down to take off his boots, more water splashed him in the face, causing him to lose his balance and fall back into the river. Thankfully, the banks of the river were shallow enough so he managed to sit up quite easily. He ran his hands over his face to get the water out of his eyes and couldn't help but let out a round of laughter. "You are so going to get it for that." He smirked as he pushed the water with his hands, sending splashed directly towards her.
