Phoebus did his best to control his anger. "Watch your tongue or I may just have to cut it out." He steadied his sword as his gaze turned down the path to make sure Odette was good and out of sight. Hopefully she would make it back to the castle before she even realized what had just happened. Turning his attention back to the men in front of him, Phoebus gave them a hard look. He knew for a fact that he wouldn't let these men live past tonight. No one could treat the princess like that without paying the legal price.

"Let's take him down boys." The big guy said before he swung his sword at Phoebus, the other two rushing in after him. Phoebus dodged the sword swing and swung his own sword up and into the man's stomach, before he yanked it out and met the second blade from the skinny man. Grabbing a knife, Phoebus threw it in the other man's direction hearing a yell of pain before he got the upper hand and managed to throw the skinny man back on the ground. He didn't let him crawl away and instead moved until he was standing over him and then he brought his sword down on the man's chest. There was a soft gasp behind him and he turned to see Odette on his horse, which was right when it started raining. Odette didn't say anything at first, just stared at him with shock as she took in the corpses littering the ground. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have-" She broke off not even aware of the tears falling down.

Phoebus turned to look at Odette, his sword slipping out of his hand as the rain washed over him. His clothes and skin were stained in the blood of the men as he stared down at the bodies. He hadn't wanted her to see any of this, but he had to do his job. He had to protect her. He picked up his sword and slowly walked up to the horse, slipping it back into it's holster before grabbing the reins from her. Since he was covered in blood, he walked beside the horse and led her back towards the stables before even saying a word to her. After helping her down from the horse, he sat her down on a bail of hay and knelt in front of her to check for injuries. "Are you alright? They didn't-" He couldn't force himself to say the words, but she knew what he was going to say. "I'm sorry you had to see that..."

Odette watched numbly as he led her horse back home and into the stables, it was a long journey back to the palace and she felt her head swim. All she could think about was those men and how they would have hurt her, she had heard rumors of things happening to women like this. Her hands were shaking as he directed the horse back into it's stable and helped her off, which was quite an accomplishment as Odette's limbs felt shaky. At his question, she shook her head trying still to fight back the tears "I'm fine." She said and she was grateful he led her to sit down otherwise she would have collapsed on her feet. "Don't apologize Phoebus, I should not have run off the way I did." Odette said as she wiped her eyes on her sleeve.

Phoebus watched as she struggled to hold back her tears and he could feel his heart aching for her. Ignoring his blood stained shirt, he pulled her into his arms and caressed her head lightly with his hand. Something like that should have never happened to her. She didn't deserve to fall victim to the terrible world they were living in. He held her tight to his chest as if to let her know that it was alright to cry. He didn't blame her for anything that had happened tonight and he never would. All he cared about was that she was safe and that hopefully the events wouldn't haunt her for the rest of her life.

Odette gave in to the urge to fully cry and started sobbing into his shirt. Not really noticing the blood stains that were still fresh there or that his shirt was molded to his skin due to the rainstorm. Her own dress was still torn in places and she felt dirty wearing it. "It's all my fault." She somehow managed to say in between shaking breaths. Her hands moved and clung to him desperately as she struggled to regain her composure. All she could see were the men's eyes as they held her down and their hands as they tore her dress. She hadn't even been able to protect herself, her body had been frozen in shock and fear. If Phoebus hadn't arrived when he had, Odette was pretty sure things would have ended much differently. Somehow Odette was able to pull back and raise her gaze to meet Phoebus's own. Her hair was now a dirty, tangled mess and her face was visibly streaked with tears. Her eyes were red rimmed from her sobs and she knew she probably looked awful, she felt awful. "Thank you." She whispered quietly, her bottom lip quivering just a little bit. She still clung to him, to help remind herself that she wasn't stuck back in the forest with those awful men.

Phoebus gave her one last squeeze before he put just a tiny bit of space in between them and looked down at her. "It's not your fault. Come on, let's go get you cleaned up." He gently picked her up in his arms as he took her into the castle. The horses could wait, he was more concerned about getting her comfortable. As he carried her to her room, he ignored the gasps and comments from the servants. They both probably looked awful. He himself was covered in blood and soaking wet and she was covered in dirt and her clothes were torn. Saying a quick order to her handmaiden, Phoebus took her inside and laid her onto her bed as he helped the maid get a bath and some extra clothes ready.

Odette felt her body tense a little as he hugged her tightly. Yet she didn't push him away from her as she wanted too. He had saved her life and she owed him that much at least. Her hands still clung to him as he picked her up and carried her back to her room. She knew in the back of her mind that rumors would start circulating but she couldn't bring herself to care at that moment. A part of her dimly realized that he had lain her down on her bed. One of her handmaidens hurried forward and started fussing over the state of her hair and clothing. "Make sure the Queen knows." Greer whispered to one of the handmaidens who hurried off. Greer turned to look at Phoebus with a frown, "What happened?" She demanded with a frown as she moved to fill the tub with steaming hot water.

Phoebus pushed past Greer as he continued to set up the bath, ignoring the whispers and the bustle of servants around him. "Damn robbers, that's what." His voice was seething with anger, the smell of blood was starting to give him a headache. Once the bath was ready, Phoebus' voiced boomed through to room as he kicked all of the servants, except for Greer, out of the princess' chambers. "Do not speak of this night or I will have you all arrested for treason against the kingdom!" He slammed the door shut, unable to hide his anger any longer. He turned to Greer and gave her a nod. "Get her cleaned up, the queen will not be happy to see this." Phoebus moved to the opposite side of the room and sat down where he couldn't see the tub. He had no idea how he was going to explain this, but the least he could do is try to get some peace and quiet for a few moments.

Greer's expression turned dark, "Those idiots! I'm assuming you didn't go easy on them?" She asked as she took in his blood stained shirt. Her attention went back to Odette and she helped undress her. "Well since you dismissed the other handmaidens, could you help me carry her over to the tub?" Greer asked once Odette was fully undressed. Odette seemed to come too when she heard that and shook her head frantically, "I can stand on my own Greer." She said stubbornly and to prove it, tried walking only to fall into Greer's arms.

Phoebus turned to look at Greer and frowned when he saw Odette fall into the maid's arms. "Of course, sorry." He mumbled his apologies as he made his way back over to the bed, doing his best to ignore the naked form before him. Slipping his arm around her waist, he lifted Odette back up into his arms and carried her over to the bath, gently easing her into the warm water. Once she was settled in, he dipped his arm into the water and adjusted her legs so she could be more comfortable before pulling away. "Now I'm assuming you don't want me washing her as well, so I'll leave that to you." Phoebus dried his arms off with an extra towel before retreating back to his corner, wanting to be far away from the naked Odette as he could just in case someone else came in.

Odette tried not to react to Phoebus carrying her but it was difficult. The fact that he was seeing her with nothing on was mortifying, and even more so since he had rejected her. Greer was trying, not very well not to smirk at the whole business, once Odette was in the tub she felt her muscles relax but only a little. "I'm sure you could do a fine job Sir Phoebus." Greer stated at his remark. Odette grimaced, "Greer, stop embarrassing me." She groaned. If Greer heard her, she didn't show it and instead started helping Odette clean up.

Phoebus shot an angry look at Greer before falling back in his chair. "Shut up Greer. What I said to the others still applies to you." The annoyance in his voice was clear. Greer had always been his least favorite servant around the castle and here she was, already picking on him. "Make sure she's decent before the queen arrives." The smell of blood pricked his nose again and he huffed to himself. He hated to present himself like this but he wasn't going to leave Odette's side for such a silly thing like clothes.

Greer rolled her eyes, "And if it did, you'd be the only one left to help the Princess clean up." She pointed out. Odette sighed, "I'm a Princess, not an invalid." Her voice came out with a huff of irritation that made Greer smile fondly. "Well right now, I'm sure your knight in shining armor wouldn't mind a bath right next to yours." She said mischievously. Odette groaned, "Greer, one more word and I swear to Mythos that I will dismiss you." She said sternly. Greer pouted but wisely chose to heed Odette's words at least until the Princess was completely clean. "Phoebus, there's a nice wet-" Odette whirled around and glared at Greer. "Get out." She ordered. There was a loud silence and then Greer left her chambers, Odette let out a shaky sigh. "I hope you don't mind helping me?" She asked timidly. Her legs still felt weak and she was afraid to put too much weight on them. "My mother won't be here for another hour or two at least." Odette added as an after thought.

Phoebus had kept ignoring Greer, that is, until he heard Odette snap at her. He couldn't help but look over as the maid left the room in a hurry. Good, one less annoyance on his part. At Odette's request, he felt his cheeks heat slightly. "Of course, here." He spoke softly as he hurried to her side. Just as he reached down to pick her up, he stopped for a moment and decided to take off his blood stained shirt. She had just had a bath and he didn't want to make her dirty again. He slipped his arm around her waist once again and pulled her up into his arms. "Are you feeling alright?" Carefully setting her down in a chair, he moved a towel over her body to dry her off as best he could. Once was finished, he slipped a robe around her, helping her get somewhat dressed. "I'm not sure where your clothes are...if you want something more, just tell me." He gave her a soft smile before lifting her once again and placing her on her bed.
