Phoebus was surprised by the queen's sudden question. Just as he was about to object, she stopped him and his mouth fell shut in defeat. "With all due respect, it doesn't matter what I would be like with her. We are both promised to someone else, it'll just take some time for us to get over our feelings...I'm sure I've caused more damage than I should have but I will do all that I can to protect her." He looked the queen in the eye. "If you don't mind me asking your highness..the princess mentioned this arrangement being set up by Lord Frollo. Do you and the king agree with his decision? That your children have to marry for strategy instead of love?"

The Queen smiled, "Indeed? Well then I hope things between you and your loved one go smoothly." Queen Uberta said with a small smile. "I can't help but wonder though, you're not leading my daughter on are you? Because if you are, I'll have to interfere and you don't want me to interfere." She said with a sudden chilly smile. At his question she tilted her head in thought, "Well it wasn't just the Claude who came up with the horrid idea I assure you, it was my husband's plan as well. He always was spineless." She said with a roll of her eyes. "If I had it my way, I would have allowed my daughter to make her decision in who she married and what kind of relationships she entered into." She added firmly. |

Phoebus immediately shook his head. "Of course not. I do have feelings for her, but I never want to hurt her." At her words, he frowned and put his hands in his pocket. "You should make your plans known. Whether they'll listen to you or not, I hate seeing her in such a torment." The queen probably knew of Odette's thoughts on the marriage, but he just had to make sure. It killed him inside to see her so unhappy.

The Queen laughed bitterly, "Oh believe me I've tried but once the King had his mind made up, I couldn't change it. I've seen the way how the Claude has been around my daughter and it sickens me, yet I can't do anything. My hands are tied, which is why I would appreciate your help in keeping her safe." The Queen said with finality. "When this all happened, I was hopeful that my husband would come to his senses but if anything his condition has deteriorated." The Queen said with a frown. |

Phoebus frowned at the queen's words. Fighting the king was a lost cause and he knew it, he just hoped that something would change before things got out of hand. "I'll keep her safe. I promise. If there is anything I can help you with in the future, I will be happy to help."

The Queen smiled, "That's all I can ask from you, and thank you again for saving my daughter. It really means a lot to me to have had you by her side." She stated warmly. The Queen then turned and left, leaving the Captain standing by the doorway. |
