Post by Princess Odette on Oct 6, 2015 23:18:44 GMT
Odette sat in front of her mirror brushing her long hair, making a face every time she reached a tangle in her hair. Normally one of her handmaidens would do the task but she had dismissed them so she could have some time to herself, she had a feeling she wouldn't have much more of that. Finished brushing her hair, Odette found one of her crowns this one a simple golden one that went well with the forest green dress that she wore. She completed the look with a simple golden chain necklace that caught the light, she nodded at her reflection. Odette was someone who didn't like wearing too much jewelry if any if she could help it, yet knew her mother would expect her to at least look royal. She stood up and left her chambers, noting that there was a new bodyguard standing outside her door. "You must be my newest security detail." Odette noted with some surprise, the man was handsome in a rugged kind of way and looked well more serious then anyone else she usually dealt with.

Normally, Michael would preferably stay away from crowds and people in general, for reason only Joseph would ever understand. However, that didn't mean he wasn't able to go through with certain situations. Like now for example, and for their current upcoming job some planning on ahead was needed, which was something Michael has always been good at apparently. Now, let's just hope the princess he was supposed 'guard' wouldn't be one of those snobbish spoiled types. He may not have the temper and impatience like his twin, but his lack of caring for her safety could instead be a problem in that case. Leaning agaisnt the wall beside her door, arms folded across his chets and eyes closed as if resting, he didn't even bother to look up when he heard the princess walk out of her chambers. "You guessed right," he said shortly, pushing himself off the wall and giving her a small nod in respect. "You can call me Brooker."
(OOC: Since he's undrcover, I figuerd he'd jsut use a fake surname for now x'D)

Odette nodded, "Brooker, well it's a pleasure to meet you." She said gently and meaning it before she started walking down the hallway. "So how long have you worked at the palace?" She asked after a moment of silence as she made her way towards the library. A part of her knew she should get something to eat but she didn't want to face the Claude or her new betrothed. Plus all the guards ate before the Royal family so they could attend to their duties. Odette watched as two guardsmen stood at attention as Odette appeared. Both of them moved to open the doors and allowed both Odette and her bodyguard inside The Royal Library. The library was a place where Odette spent most of her mornings, reading as much as she could about commerce and other matters. It was one of the few times she could study what she wanted instead of what her tutors ordered her too. The Royal Library was one of the best in the kingdom, with all kinds of well bound books that were each well taken care of. Some of these books were in fact worth a fortune due to their rarity. Michael merely gave a small node at her greeting, and then followed after her in complete silence. He did know she was supposed to go eat now, but didn't bother mentioning it whens he instead turned the opposite way and walked towards the Library.Once they enterd, he couldn't help but to look around in mild fascination, though no hint of interesst showed on his expression as he did so. He ahd always enjoyed reading, ever since he and Jospeh escaped their so called 'home' as kids... While Joseph had been out getting them food doing god knows what else, Micheal had somehow gotten his hands on some books, and from there on slowly but surely taught himself to read. The times his brother would return with soemthign new for him to read was still one of the happier memories he held. Hmm, he almost tempted to just scan throguh the many books this librady had to offer, the more he looked over it, and not beaucse of th vlaue he knew they held, but beaucse he was simply curious to read them.

Odette glanced over at her bodyguard and noticed how he was taking in the library. Even though he didn't show it, she wondered if he liked books. "Feel free to read some of the books, I'm probably going to be here for awhile." She admitted with a little wave of her hand. Odette moved towards one of the ladders stationed near one of the book cases so she could start reading right where she had left off. Without waiting for help, she shimmed up the ladder and started grabbing books seemingly at random.

Again, he didn't bother answering her, but he did turn his head back around to look down at her, still with his unreadable expression. But, he did appreciate the offer. He honestly don't mind much either when she said that she'd probably end up being there for a good while. Give him more chance to explore the library, and get his hand son more valuable information. As he turned to look through one of the shelves for maybe just a couple of seconds, he looked back only to find her up a ladder and picking out more books than she should at once. Seeing how the ladder being a bit to unsteady, Michael merely reached out and grabbed hold of it firmly, holding it still while he went back to look through the shelf in front of him.

Odette looked down as she felt someone steady the ladder and felt a tiny smile grow on her face as she saw that Michael was holding the ladder with only one hand. "Thank you." She called down to him as she studied the books that she held in her hand, all of them were perfect for what she wanted to study and yet there was one last one that all but called to her. She frowned as she debated what she should do and then figured it wouldn't hurt to try and get one more, she was confidant that she could get one last one. So ignoring the voice of reason in her head, she leaned forward a little too far to the left as she reached for a book nestled in the far corner. "Oh come on." She mumbled under her breath as the tips of her fingers grazed the spine and then she started to realize two things, one the books were starting to tip and two and that she was too.

Being a little to focused on his own book Micheal had found, one about the kingdom's history that one couldn't find in any other libraries, Micheal looked up just in time when Odette was about to tipp of the ladder, along with all of the books he'd just collected in her arms. Without even as much as blinking, Micheal let go of the ladder and caught her when she fell, avoiding getting hit by all of her books except for one that hit him right on the head. "...interesting taste you have," he said casually, referring to all the books now scattered out around his feet, as if not even have felt the bump to his head just now. With another word, for asking if she wa sok, he placed her down on her own feet, and then wordlessly began to gather up the books that had fallen along with her.

Odette stared up at Brooker in fascination as he caught her like it was nothing. "I...wow um thank you." She said quietly and just then the last book fell and hit him in the head. "Oh I'm sorry!" She said in sudden horror, feeling like an idiot as he bent to pick up the scattered books. She moved to help him and let out a little nervous laugh, "You must think I'm a total klutz." Odette said with her face turning a dark red from embarrassment. There was something about this particular bodyguard. She wasn't sure what it was that drew her attention but he was fascinating.

Michael just kept on collecting the books, putting them up on the table where he assumed Odette as going to sit when she began her little 'study session'. He hummed at her comment about being a klutz, not gonna going to argue with that, adht replaced the last of books on the table, holding out the chair for her to sit. "A klutz who enjoys fine literature at least," he said in a flat, humorless tone, but with small hint of appreciation in there somewhere.

Odette smiled in thanks as he pulled out the chair for her and sat down while grabbing one of the books she had taken from off the shelf. "I suppose that's true, there aren't many who appreciate a good book." She said with a slight frown on her face as she flipped open her book. "I've always seen it as an escape, when things became too unbearable." She added with a little sigh as she found her bookmark. Her brother was the opposite of her and would only read if he was forced much to her chagrin, there was something sad about an unread book.

Michael found himself agreeing to what she said, and studied one of the books she picked out with mild interest. An escape huh? he thought to himself, casually opening the boo and began to browse through it. "One would need a big and lovely imagnitation for that," he committed, his eyes glued on the text infront of him now. He couldn't say he had it, or ever used the books as a means of escape from reality. Even as a child, when he first learned how to read and would prefer to just waste the time away with that, he didn't know how to 'escape' the rest. He had always been to aware, or scared, to let his mind wander off to far apparently...

Odette brightened at his words, "I've never thought about it like that, but mother always did say I lived in my own world." She said with a little shake of her head. Her tutors had never liked how she could never focus on her studies when she was younger. Most of them had tried beating her, after all a Princess was supposed to be well mannered and perfect in the eyes of her subjects. The whole notion had been utterly ridiculous so Odette had learned how to fit in. It had never been an easy task for her but she had learned to be patient.

Glancing up from his own book, he gave the princess a small hint of a smirk at her words. "Well, with this kind of environment I can't blame you," he snorted, turning yet another page. "Must be suffocating having someone breathe down your shoulder day in and day out, and pretend you're nothing but a living doll." That's the image Michael get from watching the royals and all the glamor they were born into, at least. Nothing but fake smiles and appearances, who used all their wealth to blind both themselves and the rest of the world around them. Sounded and looked so painfully dull.

Odette made a face, "Please don't remind me, I can only see the world from inside apparently." She said with a downcast expression. It was hard to know that as a Princess, eventually she would be married off and become the mother to a new generation of Royals. When she married, it wouldn't be for love but for advantage. Her parents had stressed this to her more and more with each passing year. Yet Odette found it harder and harder to obey her parent's wishes. Indeed it was something Odette found herself resenting as the years passed.
