Lonette relaxed as she said she was a fairy, if she had been a witch Lonette would have been very conflicted. Hunting witches was something that Lonette did for a living, and while it was a thankless job she enjoyed it all the same. Plus it paid surprisingly well, she looked up at Kayley's other words. "I could help you learn how to defend yourself? If you're willing to learn that is." She said gently, she knew how frustrating it could be not knowing how to defend oneself. "Mind you, I won't go easy on you. So if you want to learn then you have to be fully committed." She added firmly. If she didn't teach Kayley how to protect herself from hard hits, Kayley wouldn't be as well prepared.

Kayley looked over at Lonette and couldn't help the smile that came to her face. "Really? That would be great. I know it'll be tough but I really want to learn." It was hard to hide her excitement. Finally she would be able to do something on her own. If she could learn how to fight, the next time a buyer took a pass at her she could teach them a lesson instead of whimper and let Joseph take care of it. "I'm sure I can get Joseph to let me out every once in a while...I'll just have to behave for a while so he doesn't get upset with me." She watched the fire, the flames dancing in her eyes as she tried to think of a reason to leave the house around this time of night without him. If he knew she was going to be hanging out with his niece, she wasn't quite sure what he would think about it.

Lonette nodded, "I'd feel better if you had some knowledge of defending yourself." She frowned at Kayley's other words, "Well I can always talk to him, but I'm sure he'd agree with me."
She said as she thought about it. "We can start now if you'd like? We won't do anything too difficult to start off with, just some basic stances and how to defend yourself." She wouldn't teach Kayley how to attack until she knew how to fully defend herself first. "As for your powers, you could build up your stamina so you could use them to your advantage." She pointed out.

Kayley glanced over at her and smiled. "He wouldn't get mad with you helping me?" At her words about starting now, she jumped up and couldn't contain her excitement any longer. "I'd love to start now! This is going to be so great, thank you." She hugged Lonette suddenly and tied her hair back tighter. Once her hair was pulled back into a tight bun, she rolled up her sleeves and was finally ready to start. Maybe she could even surprise Joseph if she got good enough.

"Well I can handle him, even if he disapproves." Lonette said with a little smile. She froze as Kayley hugged her, she wasn't used to people touching her. It was nice, and she slowly patted her on the back before she cleared her throat and stepped back. She divested the crossbow from off her shoulder and set it on the ground nearby. Then she detached her belt and set it on the ground as well. "Ok so first you'll need to start stretching for five to ten minutes. Get your muscles nice and limber." Lonette said as she demonstrated what kinds of stretches Kayley would need to do.

Kayley watched as Lonette dropped her supplies and got herself ready. When she started stretching, Kayley made sure to watch each move closely. She had done some similar stretches back when she lived on the farm and had to take care of feeding the animals. The food weighed so much that without proper stretching, it was easy to pull a muscle.
Kayley stretched her arms over her head, making sure to get every muscle loose. Once she was finished there, she leaned down and reached her toes, stretching her back and leg muscles at the same time. After the about seven minutes, she was all finished stretching and waited for the next step.

Lonette glanced back at Kayley and noted her posture to make sure she was fully prepared. "Now first, you'll learn how to block. Put your hands up like this." Lonette said and helped Kayley get her arms up properly. "This kind of a block can be used to protect your face, hence why your arms have to be higher up." Lonette said as she held up her arms. "Now I want you to punch me, it doesn't have to be very hard just enough so that way you can get an idea of how the block will work." Lonette said as she waited for Kayley to punch her.

Kayley followed Lonette's directions and lifted her arms into a blocking position. She altered the position as Lonette instructed until she had gotten it down just right. When she instructed her to punch her, Kayley gave her a confused look but nodded once she explained why. She readied her stance and aimed where she was going to punch. After a moment, Kayley pulled back one fist and thrust it forward in a smooth, swift motion until it met Lonette's block stance.

Lonette smiled as Kayley punched her, "Very good." She said as she lowered her hands. "Now you see how it can be used, now I want you to use that block against my attacks." Lonette said and waited for Kayley to get into position. She studied her to see if there were any weak points that she could spot. There was one major one that she could see right away and she moved to punch that area. Kayley's guard dropped but only slightly, "Keep your fists up, if they're lowered too much I could cause some serious damage." Lonette instructed and watched as Kayley fixed the problem. "Good." She said and attacked again, watching in approval as the block did it's job.

Kayley got into position, raising her arms into their position. When Lonette moved to punch her, she lowered her arms slightly as her body reacted naturally and flinched. She frowned, knowing that she had done it wrong and listened to Lonette's advice. Once she rearranged herself, she nodded and tried again. This time she managed to do it correctly and she smiled. Even though it was just a simple block technique, she already felt like she could do more. At least now she could deflect anything if someone came at her and that was the important part.

"I'd like this to become natural for you, that way you don't have to remember too much. Once you can block in time to my attacks, you'll be better able to know what to look for before someone attacks you." Lonette said as she motioned for Kayley to keep her guard up while she circled her and kept up the punches. Her eyes constantly looking for any weakness that she could exploit but Kayley was a fast learner and soon enough she had the initial block down. "Ok so we're moving on to a different block, this can be used to protect your stomach. Once you tone your stomach muscles, it won't be as needed but until then you're going to need to learn this." She said before moving Kayley's arms into the proper blocking technique. Making sure that she had a firm guard so nothing could go through.

Kayley spun in circles as Lonette circled her, blocking every punch she threw at her. Once Lonette approved of her stance, Kayley smiled and stood up straight. She was surprised to catch on so quickly, of course, this was the easy stuff. Once Lonette began to teach her a new block, Kayley let her position her arms into the right spots until she had it right. She positioned her arms over her stomach, making sure to keep her guard firm and steady. She knew how painful it was to be hit in the stomach so this was a move she would gladly learn.

Lonette studied Kayley's form, making sure that it was as good as could be. "Very good, now let's see how well it holds up." She said and with no more warning then that, she sent a few punches towards Kayley. The guard stance held up much to Lonette's satisfaction, so Lonette decided to make it a little harder. With a flick of her wrist, Lonette moved towards the face instead to see how fast Kayley's reaction time was. It wouldn't be a very hard punch, just one that might stun Kayley a little bit if it connected.

Kayley held up her guard as Lonette sent a few punches her way, satisfied that her block held up well. She noticed Lonette shift her stance and her fist made it's way towards her face. Kayley brought up her arms to block it, deflecting the punch from hitting her face but her stance was weak. Her footing slipped since she was so focused on her arms and she stumbled back and landed on the log they were sitting on before. She groaned in annoyance and pulled herself back up to her feet, dusting off the dirt that flew into her clothes when she landed. "I'm sorry, I guess I was too focused on one part of it."

Lonette smiled, "No you did good, most people aren't able to block at all so you're learning. That's a really good sign." She said encouragingly. She was in fact very impressed by Kayley's quick progression into learning the defensive techniques. It was rare for someone to pick it up that easily and as fast as she had. "Again." She said as she waited for Kayley to get into position once again. "This time, watch me and see if you can pick up on any tells that I might have before I attack." She said gently. Once Kayley was ready, Lonette started punching again diverting attacks to both her face and stomach.
