Kayley got back into her stance, making sure to keep her feet planted steadily. She kept her gaze on Lonette and made sure to watch every move she made. Her first punch went for her stomach and she blocked it in one swift movement only to lift her arms up just in time to block another to her face. It took a moment for her to get used to Lonette's movements and now she could easily see where she was going next. After a few rounds, Kayley deflected another punch and pushed back a little, trying to knock Lonette off of her balance.

Lonette was growing more impressed by the second, Kayley was doing a much better job then most other pupils who were just starting out. "You're doing very good, I think we'll take a little break for now." Lonette said after Kayley managed to push her back. "Have you ever fought anyone before?" Lonette asked curiously, the girl was a natural and it made Lonette wonder if she had had lessons to get to the level that she was already at.

Kayley nodded when Lonette said it was time for a break and she push a few loose strands of hair out of her face. "If you count trying to set Joseph on fire as fighting, then yes. But other than that, I've been too scared to try and defend myself much." She giggled at the first part and moved back over towards the fire. "My father was a knight so maybe I get it from him...He did show me a few things when I was little but once I had to take on more chores on the farm, we lost out practice time. It's been years since I've done anything like this." She smiled at the memory of her father only to frown a few moments later, realizing that she would never see him or her mother again. Maybe if she could pick up on enough fast enough, she could kick Joseph's ass a little bit as payback, despite her feelings for him.

"You set Joseph on fire? Damn, I would have loved to have seen that." Lonette said with amusement as she pictured Joseph's face. "I learned from a variety of different people, but I found that each had the same basic sorts of principles." Lonette admitted as she moved to sit down. "You're a natural, if you pick up fighting as easily as blocking you could be a very good fighter all on your own." Lonette said encouragingly. "Besides I think Joseph needs a little kick in the butt every once and awhile." She said with a little laugh.

Kayley flashed her a smile. "It really did piss him off a bit. I ruined his favorite pair of pants." She giggled to herself as she relived the memory. "Maybe if I can kick him in the butt he'll stop treating me like a child. Michael too." She shifted on the log and glanced over at Lonette. "So if Michael is your father, how come you don't work in the same field as him? You don't hunt supernaturals?" The fire had started to die down and Kayley simply glanced at it to get it going again, the flames burning brighter than before.

Lonette chuckled, "His favorite pair? The poor man." She said with a growing smile as she thought about her uncle and her of course her father. "Oh I wouldn't kick Michael, he's too scary even if he is my dad." Lonette admitted with a littla laugh. She looked up at Kayley's question, "Well I didn't know my dad growing up, but I do hunt a certain kind of supernaturals I just don't sell them off." She said eventually, not entirely sure how much she could tell Kayley. "I hunt witches." She said after a moment.

Kayley glanced over at her and threw a couple loose sticks into the fire. "Witches..I've never met one. If you don't sell them then I'm guessing you just kill them?" She looked at Lonette and frowned slightly. At least Joseph and Michael didn't do the killing, mostly. The buyers took care of that for them. They just wanted a profit. She still didn't agree with the way they ran their business but she just had to go with it. If she defied them too much, Joseph would probably find a way to break their deal and sell her off to the highest bidder. "I never thought about either of them having children...they never seemed like the family type." She thought about Joseph and wondered if he had any children. It was still hard for her to believe that she was developing a crush on him. He was old enough to be her father but he was just so attractive to her that it hurt. She almost wished that she hadn't been drunk that night she made a move on him. He seemed interested but now he kept his distance. The only contact she had had with him was the kiss when he accepted her deal, and that had been her first kiss after all.

"I only kill if the witch is causing problems, I don't enjoy killing anyone." Lonette admitted with a frown as she considered Kayley's question. She let out a sad smile at Kayley's words, "From what I gathered I was an accident, my mom didn't even tell Michael that she had had me. She knew what could happen if I was around Michael and she didn't want me to be exposed to that kind of life." It was almost ironic how things had gone, now that Lonette was doing something almost similar to what Michael and Joseph did. "So you and Joseph...do you like him?" She asked curiously, Kayley was a very pretty woman and Lonette was secretly surprised that Joseph had someone like her.

Kayley had been so focused on her thoughts that she barely even registered when Lonette asked her if she like Joseph. Her cheeks burned red but the shadows from the fire hid most of it. "I think so...I really shouldn't. I mean, he tore me from my home and killed everyone I've ever loved but there's something about him that just draws me to him. It's stupid I know...Sometimes I think he likes me too but then he just changes back to his old self so quickly like it had never happened." She sighed and rested her elbow on her knee, using it at a crutch to cradle her cheek in her hand. Her gaze remained focused on the fire as she thought about that night. Maybe that's why she had been able to control fire first...it was was destroyed her home after all and what brought her to Joseph.

Lonette raised an eyebrow, "And you still like him? Even after all that?" She asked with surprise, Joseph really could be an idiot it seemed. "If I knew Joseph better I might have an idea on how to help, I've never really done relationships myself." She admitted with a shrug. "Somehow they never worked what with me hunting witches." Lonette said as she made a face. She liked her job though and probably always would, it seemed to be the only thing that she enjoyed these days. "Maybe once you can properly defend yourself, you'll catch more of his interest?" She suggested after a pause, it was what she would do if she were in Kayley's place.

Kayley shrugged and twirled her finger around, causing a few of the embers from the fire to swirl up into the air in a swirl-like manner. "That's the idea. That and when someone takes a pass at me like that creepy buyer did, I don't have to cower behind him like a child. I hate that..." She swirled them around a few more times before flicking her wrist and they fell back into the fire where they came from. A sigh flew past her lips as she thought about what Lonette had said about relationships. Kayley had never really been interested, despite the fact that her mother had been pushing her to find a husband ever since she turned sixteen. "Maybe you just haven't met the right guy yet. You know, someone you can hunt with or whatever."

"I know what you mean, I'd rather take control of my own life without someone making sure I don't chip a fingernail while doing it." Lonette said as she made a face. She watched as Kayley caused the embers to fly around the fire in a dreamy motion, "What's it like? Controlling fire, I mean?" She asked quietly as she watched the embers fly back into the fire. Her expression turned thoughtful at Kayley's words "Well I would agree with you but men don't exactly interest me." She said and watched Kayley to see her reaction to that.

"Invigorating...it makes me feel more powerful than I actually am. It's the hardest of all the elements, aside from wind, and somehow I've already seemed to master it." At Lonette's words of how men didn't interest her, Kayley glanced at her and smirked. "Women then. Interesting..I never pictured you as the type." She straightened in her seat and pulled her hair out of it's bun so it was lying loose around her shoulders once again. A chill was starting to wash over the river but thankfully the fire seemed to keep them warm enough.

Lonette chuckled as she stretched her legs out in front of the fire, "Most people don't but I like women better then men, the curves and how soft they are." She trailed off with a little shake of her head. "That's not to say men can't be fun, they can be just as fun but I prefer women." She said with a grin. Her eyes landed on Kayley as she noted how Kayley's hair framed her face making her seem younger and far more innocent, it was charming. Joseph really was a lucky guy, to have such a lovely woman and not even appreciate it she looked away and glanced down at her legs.

Kayley kept her gaze on the fire and nodded at Lonette's words. Since she spent most of her time working, she had never really thought about the possibility of a relationship, not even friendships so to speak. She was only eighteen years old and the only experience she had was her kiss with Joseph. It had never even occurred to her that women could have been an option too. The thought of it made her wonder but each wonder led straight back to Joseph. It was getting annoying how much he filled her mind from day to day but she couldn't help it.
