Odette gave him a strained smile, "I will but there's nothing more you can do Captain. I do appreciate your concern though." She said honestly. After a moment she took off his cloak and handed it to him. "Here, thank you for letting me use it." She said graciously. "I suspect Frollo won't be dropping for a repeat visit." She added with a little laugh, not quite able to disguise her contempt for the man. Frollo had been a frequent visitor to her over the years, first to make sure she repented of her "sins" but then it degenerated into an ugly violence. Her father had never listened to her growing concerns, instead turning a blind eye to the proceedings. When John had first found out he had been furious, yet even when he interfered the Claude still made regular appearances.

Phoebus took his cloak from her, nodding to thank her. He was still worried that Frollo would show back up, but he knew the princess wanted to be alone. "If he ever bothers you again, or tries to hurt you, you come find me. Or send someone to me. I'll make sure to take care of it." The tone of his voice was serious, almost hard. He wondered if he should have a talk with the king about the events this evening, but the prince had already mentioned that he would do it. Whether this was a recurring thing or not, he didn't know, but he was sure to make sure it never happened again.

Odette nodded, "I'll remember." She said gently before she stretched up on her tiptoes to brush a kiss against his cheek. "Thank you again." She said meaning it as she gave him a shy smile. A part of her berated herself for what she had just done while the other part was screaming. It wasn't something she would do normally after all. And yet it wasn't like anything would come out of it anyway, she was sure it didn't mean anything to him.

"It's not a problem." He took her hand in his and placed a gentle kiss on it. The kiss she planted on his cheek caught him a little off guard, but he quickly dismissed it. She was just grateful for his help, that's all. "If you need anything in the night, you know where to find me. Goodnight princess." Phoebus gave her a reassuring smile and bowed as he turned to leave. He would make a few laps around the halls near her room to make sure no one would bother her again before he returned to his room in the guards office.

When Phoebus took her hand and kissed the back of it, Odette wondered if perhaps maybe he did feel something for her. As he moved towards the door she debated about what to do. Then before she could entirely lose her nerve, Odette moved forward "Wait." She said in a soft voice. Phoebus turned to face her and then she stepped towards him and kissed Phoebus on the lips. It was all kinds of things and yeah she wasn't entirely sure what to expect.

Phoebus turned when he heard her call out to him, not ready for what was about to happen. When their lips met, his hands instinctively grabbed her waist. At first, he was frozen in shock, but something took over him and his lips started to respond on their own. He pulled their bodies close together until they were chest to chest and put his hand on the back of her neck as they kissed. His lips were firm against hers, his mind not even realizing what he was doing.

Odette wasn't quite expecting his hands to wrap around her waist, but enjoyed the feeling all the same. He even responded to the kiss so maybe she had been right about his feelings after all. The door opened while the two of them were still embraced and the handmaiden froze at the sight before her. The only thought in her mind then was to find the Prince and let him know immediately. She ran out the door as Odette slid her hands up Phoebus's shoulders and clung to him tightly as she kissed him.

Phoebus intensified the kiss, not even hearing that someone had come into the room and left again. His hand moved into the small of her back when her hands slid up to his shoulders. Jasmine had been the only woman he had ever kissed but now here he was, kissing the princess of all people. His fingers ran through her hair as his hand slid back down to her waist.

Odette felt her heart speed up as the kiss deepened and she felt his hands slide further down her waist. That was of course when the Prince walked in, the handmaiden directly behind him. Before Phoebus or Odette could react, John had pushed Phoebus off of Odette and stepped in front of her with a dark frown on his face. "So this is why you were visiting my sister? How long has this been going on?" John demanded, his hand already grasping his sword hilt as he stared down Phoebus.

Phoebus was brought back to reality when he felt hands pulling him away from Odette. His eyes flew open, realizing what he had just done and guilt instantly consumed him. How could he have done this? How could he do this to the princess and to Jasmine? "I-I'm so sorry your highness, I acted completely out of turn. This was the only time, I swear." He fumbled over his words and bowed to the prince. His heart was racing, unsure of how he could have been so consumed to let this happen.

John glanced back at Odette, "Well? Is what he's saying true?" He demanded, Odette nodded hastily "Look, it was nothing I just...it's my fault not his." Odette said as she raised her head to meet John's firm gaze with her own. John studied her for a long time before he slowly released the firm grip on his sword. "It's a good thing, I know when you lie." He said after a moment but he still looked grim. "Do you have any idea how this will reflect on you? If word of this gets out and it will, people will talk. If the Prince believes that you have had relations with a man who is a part of your sworn guard then he will have every right to take Phoebus's head right off." John said in a tone that didn't leave much room for imagination. "I know it's been difficult for you Odette, but this can't continue." He said quietly before he turned to look at Phoebus, "Walk with me." He ordered before he moved out of Odette's room without even looking at her. |

Phoebus gulped hard at he prince's words, his heart pounding in his ears. He never realized how much trouble something like this would cause. "Please princess, you cannot take all of the blame. I am at fault here..." He bowed deeply before he turned to the prince and nodded. Phoebus looked back at her on his way out, regret showing in his eyes. He hated to leave her without explaining himself, but the prince had taken priority at the moment.

Odette was about to protest but stopped when she saw John give her a stern look, "I'm the one who kissed you." She said quietly as she looked down and away from Phoebus. She watched as both John and Phoebus turned and left, leaving her there with her handmaiden standing there looking extremely awkward. "I'm sorry Milady but it's not right, you and a Captain being together like that." The handmaiden said with a severe frown as she shut the door before turning on Odette. "You are a Princess and you know very well that you have a much bigger destiny then running about with people like him." She said haughtily. Odette frowned, "Phoebus is a Commander and you should treat him with respect, he has served my family for many years Greer, and if word gets out about this I will make sure you never have a job again you understand?" She demanded. Greer only looked slightly admonished but stern all the same, "Well you are certainly protective of that oaf." She muttered under her breath before turning towards the tub, "Now do you want me to fetch more hot water?" She asked as she bustled around the room.

Once the door shut, John led Phoebus down the hallway, "I saw how you reacted in there do you have feelings for my sister Captain?" He asked as he turned to look at Phoebus with a stern look in his eyes. He didn't want to see Odette get her heart broken, she deserved far better then that and he would make sure of that. |

Phoebus walked in silence as they made their way down the hall, not daring to speak the first word. When they finally stopped, he waited a long moment before looking at the prince. "I'm sorry your highness..but I do not. I don't know what came over me." He ran his hand through his hair as his mind went over the events again. "You have every right to be angry with me." He lowered his gaze away from the prince and frowned.

John nodded slowly, "You haven't answered my question Captain, and believe me I would like to know where you stand with her. I wasn't lying with what I said earlier in there, when the Prince arrives and hears what has happened tonight he will have every right to kill you. You are one of the best Captains on the force and one that my family trusts so I ask you again do you have feelings for Odette?" He asked seriously as he turned to face Phoebus. |
